For those who aren't sure what they're looking at, a brief explanation -

Ikaruga's a classic top-down shooter for arcade and Gamecube. It's also coming to Xbox Live sometime this year, which is why I was looking into it when I found this. The basic premise is much like any other shooter of the type, except you use different 'polarities'. At any time you can switch between light or dark polarity, making your craft immune to any enemy shots of that colour, and even allowing you to collect them as powerups. That's the game in a nutshell, but there's a bit more to it than just that, as the video above displays. Another thing to keep in mind is that the game rewards players for destroying enemies of any given colour in groups of three. So it's not just twitch or spam based, he has to take great care in destroying only the right enemies at the right time, and still clearing each screen before moving on.

Insanity.

Anyway, if anyone else has anything similar to this I'd love to see it. Crazy japs and their shmups...

Ikaruga kicks ass and I can't wait for it to come to LIVE ;)

and that guy has amazing skills :O

The last of the great Dreamcast games.

Guy's pretty savage. I remember when I used to do this with top-down shooters like Raiden. Always fun even if you lose.

Actually shouldn't this be under games and gaming?

No, because it's a video not so much pertaining to the game, but to skill at the game.

Christ, that's awesome (atleast the first few minutes :p). I remember tetris attack. Pretty awesome, and I could actually play it, unlike the real thing.

I can hardly do this game solo, let alone 2 at the same time. My god, this guy gets mad props. Fun as hell game, though.

I've heard of people who have had the membrane between the hemispheres of their brain removed being able to control each side of their body as if it where two different entities. Maybe they're like that?

Or its just supreme control with both still intact :|

This is more likely...

My god, they're ****ing ridiculously good at it. I wonder though, how long it must've taken him to memorize all the patterns and whatnot...
