what about the preload?

with the release date being october 9th, and considering that the preload of ep1 began in may '06, i was wondering: is there a chance that ep2 preload will be announced in less than three weeks?

Yeah, putting the preload up too soon before the release date would be like putting a cookie just out of reach. It would just wear on the nerves of the players.

Im having second thoughts about buying the game retail. Because I live in England, the game doesn't come retail till October 12th, therefore I could walk on this forum sometime like October 10th, and some jackass decides to tells me who died.

Yeah, that isn't happening 'til the game's polished, and I doubt it will be that early.

Maybe the preload is coming soon? Although I am wondering why they are listed seperately.

because You can buy them separately on steam when they come out. A interview has confirmed you will be able to buy different packs also.

The longer they leave it the more people are going to be downloading it and the more the servers are going to come under pressure. I was downloading Team Fortress and it was not particularly fast, about 400kB/s max. My connection is not especially fast but it's capable of more than twice that. The later they leave it the more people will be sharing the server bandwidth and the slower the downloads become. I can understand them wanting to leave the pre-release as late as possible to try and hold off the risk of warez groups pre-releasing it but for us legitimate users its, well, frustrating.
