I'm getting a new PC tomorrow, well, I'm getting the bits and pieces and I'm going to be putting it together myself. The only thing I didn't get in the Harddrive since my current HDD has quite a lot of stuff on it. What do you think the chances are of me putting my old HDD into my new computer and everything working perfectly?

It could be fine if the connections are the same; check to see if you have IDE or SATA and if your new compy has the same connection. Other than that you may just need to install a few drivers.

Uninstall all motherboard drivers and give it a shot. Otherwise you have a high chance of blue screen. Hope the hard drive controller will work the same.

sometimes it wont boot past the windows logo when you switch motherboards, but it differs on the board.

It wont work, because all your IRQs and MAC addresses will be different...you are better off backing up your stuff and formatting your HD...

I installed my new CPU, RAM and MB with the EXACT same harddrive and everything worked fine.

:l

yes but there could be driver conflictions with your old drivers.

i did the same and it worked perfectly! Format it first though duhh

I did this on my media PC and it worked out although the USB doesn't act quite the same.
