I'm sure kathaksung has an explanation, probably involving the CIA and reptilian overlords.

Putin is a very intelligent person, having being head of the KGB at some point. He knows exactly the game he's playing and he knows the minds of his opponents well.
 
They won't do anything.

Now since I said that a nuclear war will start and we'll all die.

It must be pretty awesome to be in a position where you can send a nuclear bomber to fly straight at the UK just to see what will happen.
 
They just wanted to take some pictures of the ET. They got their pics and headed home... Expect to see a Typhoonski in about 2 years time (A typhoon with a few half-assed differences)

I always thought he refused to been seen speaking English, for propaganda purposes (i.e. not submitting to the language).

Same with Saddam, I think Saddam could at least understand English.

Reminds me of the Cuban crisis all over again. The Kremlin is just rattling the international sabre, and testing how far they can push the boundaries before the Western world responds.

Don't get me wrong because i grew up in Ukraine, but i feel that this period of detente is just about over. I genuinely feel that Bush and Putin will respark the Cold War.
 
Absolutely nothing will happen.

The Russians are just restarting their long range bomber patrols, this sort of "interception" is entirely routine. Or at least it would be if the Russians had kept them up (like a certain other power we could mention).

This event is only noteable because:

1. The Russians have just restarted the long range bomber patrols.

2. Its the Typhoon's first proper operation.
 
The red "soviet" star is now simply a symbol of the Russian Military (Similar to Germany's Iron Cross) rather than what it was.
 
Yes, or the symbol for Russia's National airline, Aeroflot being a hammer and sickle.
 
When the captain enters the cabin after takeoff, asking "WHO TOOK THE RUDDER?", you'll probably change your mind, but then again, you'd probably be more preoccupied with the engine on fire outside your window. Or possibly the Russian Migs shooting said engine to pieces. The Captain's strangely overgrown beard might explain that, though.
 
Read an article yesterday which theorized that Putin is trying to put Russia back on the front stage in world affairs. Since 9/11 they've kinda taken a backseat and Putin thinks it's time for a change.
