Is 1.7.3 the Beta release or something? Firefox hasn't been shouting at me to be updated yet...
I think it uses up less. Open 10 tabs in firefox, then open 10 windows in IE.Firefox takes up to much memory, I make sure to get every part of my memory I can get.
I think anyone who accepts MSIE as "good enough" simply doesn't care about his browsing experience. IE is slow, it's riddled with security bugs, and doesn't come close to supporting web standards. IT CAN'T EVEN DISPLAY PNGs PROPERLY! I dare anyone to try to justify that! If you know what you're doing, there's every reason to stop using IE! Even Firefox does tabbed browsing by now!Dumb Dude said:If you know what you are doing, there is no reason to stop using IE. That said, I use IE becuase I find nothing wrong with it and Firefox really offers nothing new to me.

Not to defend FF's tabbed browsing, really; it's far inferior to Opera's. But then that's no surprise considering how inferior FF is to Opera in so many other ways: zooming, alternate rendering modes (small screen, fit to window width), mouse gestures, cache handling, memory footprint, and, of course, all round speed. That's a non-exhaustive list. (And of course FF is better than IE for each of those except zooming).
Oh yeah, Opera on Linux here.
QFT. I love Opera and can't go back to other inferior browsers--how did I manage without it???psyno said:Not to defend FF's tabbed browsing, really; it's far inferior to Opera's. Opera will be releasing a second preview of Opera 9.0 with support for "widgets," BitTorrent downloads, and other modifications
