What do u think of the laser for the rocket launcher?

How much better looking can a red dot get?

I mean it's a red dot, you don't have much creative power over a red dot.

Maybe it's not just a red dot, but u can push a button on the rocket launcher and change it's color!!!! :hmph:
And if your press the other button you might be able to change it's shape...

why does the rocket track the laser through the air?

Because that is what the rocket is supposed to do.....

It's mission, to hit whatever the laser is on.

Yeah, it's its destiny...

Is some tracking device thing, like thermal tracking.

lol I think he was just saying that :naughty:

I like it :)

Ok, the dot makes sense, because even if there was dust in the air, the laser is thin enough, and it's light enough outside that you wouldn't be able to see the line anyways.

As for the rocket, it just likes red shiny things, so it goes for the laser.

I think the red dots fine. im goign to love shoting rockets and makeing them do spyrals before hitting its target :D

will be cool if the dust pass trought the laser and you can see it

I think the rocket is kitten guided. If you've ever had a kitten, you know the incredibly lengths they'll go to to get that lazer dot. I think that explains the rocket's love for the lazer perfectly.

I just love the way that the rockets actually seek out the dot now, instead of just going for the infinite endpoint of the projected line that the dot represents...

Actually the HL1 had your normal crosshair and the red laser. The new one automatically disables the crosshair and the laser IS your crosshair. Definately better.

It took me ages to get my head round the laser guided RPG in Half Life. I always ended up twatting the ground, and usually just alt-fired a rocket just to turn the guidance system off.

lol , yeah i guess ur right, but it would be cool if it was like quake 3 , how u can see the line abit coz of the dust in the air like this http://www.cdmag.com/articles/019/084/shot7big.jpg

Except that most people think THAT'S incredibly retarded... because it's so unrealistic and dull? Okay if you saw the beam until it hit a wall (Not very realistic either...) but, COME ON.

I generally fired it unguided in the general direction of the enemy, pointed the launcher at the enemy and followed him with it, and then turned the guiding system on.

A little difficult to get right but it worked a treat, and you could get it to go round corners and back on itself much easier :D

I remember before they patched op4 dm/ctf, you could guide enemies rockets with the desert eagle :) fun!!!

also, I wonder if the rocket will run out of fuel this time; it seemed to do alot of aerobatics hitting that guy off the crane.

"It's going to hit... Yes... Yes... It's lined up perfectly!! No... no wait... It's dropping. Oh christs, not out of fuel AGAIN?"

No, it's not. Welcome your infinate rocket.

haha, yep, none of that "I'm gonna have to aim 20 degrees above that guy so this RPG will land on him..."

I LOVE the laser. Lets you redirect your rocket, so your enemy can't escape. BWAHAHAHA

back to the 'better' red dot;

In hl1 im guessing it was a picture because when u point it to a wall REALLY close, you can see it goes really boxy and distorted (so im guessing it was scaled depending on how far away it was).

in hl2 im guessing its made from a piece of code like how they make lasers in 3d using all antriscopic....stuff...so no loss of quality.

As for seeing the dot, it'd only be believable when there's dust/smoke and for how often that happens and how much you'd notice it - it's just not worth it.

Ps. i loved to guided rocket too :p

I can tell you it explodes when you wait to long, at least my 'secret source' told me that... If you know what I mean :)

The new laser is truly GREAT, as seen in one of the BINKs, the rocket can be shot to the side, and then can come back to an enemy, very neat :)

Has it gone this far? Have we nothing better to do? We're talking about improving a small red dot! What's wrong with you people! Are you insane!? AGH! I've lost faith in humanity... first they see Gordon walking on water and now this... agh... I'm going out to hang myself in the barn. Feck the little red dot...

I think'd it be cool if you could blow it up on command. Just click a second time after you fire to to cancel the operation or w/e and blow it up.

you got it all backasswards again: Kitten are laz0rguided!

Apparently they are also woolstring guided..

Rimmer - we passed the point of no return a long long time ago. Welcome to the abyss that is the bottom of the barrel.

Anyone tried to write their name with the exhaust trail of the rocket? Not that's TRUE boredom!

What do u think of the laser for the rocket launcher?

I think it's pretty lasery. But a red laser with a green rocketlauncher? That's like so 1980!

Heh, I could never understand why the the shotgun in quake3 had a bloody laser sight thing. Was that id's way of being funny??

i didnt mean the beam goes all the way in the air until it hits a target , but u can see just a little beam.

no, you should not be able to see any of the beam (in my opinion). might be cool in a dark mod.

You should only see the beam when it travels through smoke or steam or something..

yes, i would agree with that. it would be a cool effect if done proper.
