Im thinking of buying from dell and i need opinions

Specs for the dell: 2.8ghz CPU,9800 pro, 1gb of dual channel memory, 80gb hard drive

Make it yourself. Much cheaper that way.

Dell's good if you're really computer illiterate, or just can't be bothered with building a comp yourself. You'll pay a bit more, you'll get a bogus system restore disc instead of a real OS, and it'll be a pain to upgrade and get inside of due to all their bulk plastic bits and stuff. The trade off is that it comes to your door, you plug it in and go.

If you have the patience (not much is required) and the initiave to figure out that the square plug goes in the square hole, etc etc, and want to really know your comp, plus pay 50% less money, head over to newegg.com and start clicking.

my friends are saying that the presscot core in the P4 that comes with the dell is a peice of ****. Is that true?

And also, do u think it will run hl2 good?

If you don't want to build it yourself go with with a computer builder that is more focused on gamers. Not only will you get a system that is more geared for gaming, but you will also get it for cheaper. Building a computer is the best option because you can make your system exactly the way you want it and still have it come in a bit cheaper than anywhere else.

Those are a couple to check out. Be sure to visit www.resellerratings.com to check feedback about people who have ordered from those sites. If you do build a computer yourself or you get it pre-built by a site listed above, do not be afraid to post a thread asking if everything you choose is compatable or the best part for that matter.

PS - Prescott = Garbage

Don't buy Dell. They're propriatary bastards.

Build one yourself.

Don't touch anything from Dell. I had a really bad experience with them. They didn't give me a freaking AGP slot! And it's nearly impossible to upgrade them. Just pick all the parts yourself and have someone put it together for you if you don't know how. You'll be glad and you'll save some money.

Yeah, and if your worried about not knowing much halflifeguy just stick around these forums and read as much as you can. You will pick it up faster than you think. When i first registered i didnt know much but now i feel comfortable building a custom pc (that a website can put together for me) and ill be buying one in the next two weeks.

haha did you ask for one?
Or did you just ask for one of them newfangled computar machines that everyone else has. Did you specify what specs you wanted?

I just built my first computer and it turned out great. The only knowledge of building a PC before that was installing a new cpu. If you don't know what goes where the manuals will tell you. It's easier than it looks.
