First of all, I don't know if this thread is posted in the right forum, but I feel kind of disoriented here..

I don't know much about HL2, because I have wished it to be a surprice, so I don't know much about the netcode.

Anyhow, the main reason of this post is an idea I have had:
As everybody knows, there has been lots of problems with ping, as far back as multiplayergames have existed(at least I think so). Nowadays people begin investing in broadband, but there are still small irritating factors. For example; in Counter-Strike, a ping difference of 30 makes a big difference, and can be very frustrating when playing clan-wars as well as playing public.

So I was thinking, what if the ping could be delayed by software, until pingdifferences are as small as possible, but performance is still good?
Say; that fiberoptic nerv wrecking guy( :sniper: ), is brought down to earth(pinging at at least 35ms), preventing him from seeing around corners long before his enemy, but still not making him suffer from bad ping( :monkee: )!
Don't you think this would be a good solution on how to break some walls between broadband society-classes? :P
If you do, do you think this could be done effectively?

And, before I forget it ;), are there any solutions of this kind, that I have missed? :dork:

I'm not sure,, but I think they've been doing this with HalfLife 1 ever since the 1.1.1.1 (or something around there) patch
