So how does your parents\wife\sister\brother\kids feel about your interest in games? Do they hate it or they might even play themselves?

My parents dosent care, i mean im 20 years old i can do whatever i want. But when i was younger they used to think i played to much!

They hate it, think its a waste of time, and think its how viruses get on computers. Obviously I they dont like me playing them. :(

Ditto, except my family really likes MLB Baseball 2005, my cousin always beats me in that.

Brother likes games but says they waste his time...

Mum says that I spend too much time on them. Even if I rarely play them these days....

My dad is always amazed by the technology, my mum seems fairly indifferent and my brothers both used to play games a lot, but don't so much anymore because they used their time better. Same with me really....well, I don't use my time more productively, I just don't play games as much.

yeah my parents dont like it because to much violence and stuff . My mom says it too much boom boom boom LOL

Parents say they waste brain-cells... but i can get dad hooked on fs2004 for a whole afternoon

My mom and dad doesn’t really care so much, except they wonder why I'm playing so much "kiddie" games. :|

My sister does find games interesting and always wonders what type of games I’m playing, except she doesn’t play any herself.

My two brothers are gamefreaks like me. :dork:

My brothers more of a hardcore gamer than i am. So he does'nt mind me playing them and see's them from a real perspecitve.

My mum does'nt have a bloody clue what a game is and just thinks they are all the same, just a different name.

My dad and one of my uncle's are hardcore console fanboi's :p my dad loves racing games the most (like Colin-whoever it is-Rally and GT even more) but has a PC as well and is a hardcore HL2 fanboi too :p (he has the CE edition of it). My uncle loves just about every genre.

A couple of my uncle's have PC's/Consoles but don't use them as much as they should do! my auntie thinks TV is the way forward, even though its quite the opposite tbh! TV is oldskool entertainment :p.

My girlfriend plays some games for short periods of time, like Theme Hospital and Sims but thinks my games are boring and for geeks :p (i've only been playing WoW for the past 4 months).

Some of my cousins play online FPS PC games...yes, you probably guessed it right, they all play bloody CS >.< They have'nt seen the light yet.

My younger brother is just as hardcore as I am. Right now he is completely addicted to World of Warcraft.

My Mom doesn't really like them but she has gotten used to my brother and I playing them so she doesn't really care anymore.

My Dad is always very intrigued by them (he loves unique gameplay and cool stories) but he won't get into anything himself. Although he did get pretty good at Tetris when I was really young.

My older brother is addicted to WoW
My younger brother plays any old shite he can get his hands on
My dad plays old crappy platformers, and should never be allowed near a PC under any circumstances ever.
My mum doesn't play games, but likes the ones I work on :)

at the start they didnt mind me playing..
then they thought i was on them too much
then they just make sarcastic jokes about me always being on pc(when im hardly on)...
now they see im not on so much, so they dont mind again (due to the fact i have a course and studying to do).. :(

Hmm, my mum is just clueless about games, both my brothers like games but have much better things to be doing, my dad doesn't really like 'em, but he's a sucker for flight sims.

But the general thing in my house is, I don't mind you wasting your time - but at least do something constructive :p

lol im nearly 20 and my mum never shutups about me being on the comp, well shes not always on at me about it but the odd comment here and there, she thinks im talkin to 'weirdos' all the time and lookin at pron which i havent done in ages

Exept for a few. Most in my family think its childish, anyone over like 16 shouldnt play them anymore. However they dont really give me a hard time about it.

my mother moans when im playing games late at night, it does screw up my sleep pattern, she used to moan that i was on the pc all the time when it was her pc, now i have my own.. she doesnt care really.

Pshaw!

It's my Mum and Dad's fault I can't do anything productive! They got me addicted in the first place when I was about 7. My Dad hooked up Doom 2 to the LAN and practiced with me so he can beat the other guys who worked the night shifts, and my Mum always played Tails when we had Sonic 2. Oh, and we took turns to play Pac Man.

They sort of moan when I have the curtains closed in the middle of the day (glare) because they say it looks weird and I don't get enough natural light that way. But don't care otherwise.

Both of my brothers play them. My mom think's they're a waste of time, my dad really doesn't care.

my wife is supportive, often buys me games and hardware ...well I tell her what to get :) ...she hasnt come around to playing games yet but she has no problem that I do

They give me a lot of trouble and make fun of me a lot about how much I use my computer. After so long of hearing it, it's is mostly in one ear and out the other...

lucky git ;)

I used to play games a lot about 10 years ago and my parents gave me a hard time about it. Then they stopped worrying. Now they play games too.

My dad loves console FPS games like Medal of Honor, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Brothers at Arms, Turok and pretty much anything FPS.

My mom plays console games like Crash, Mario, Zelda and Jax and Dex.

My sister plays the same as my mom as well as trivia games.

My brother likes racing games like Gran Turismo and Need for Speed. He also like to play football and basketball games.

Me, I'm an all around gamer. There isn't a genre I don't like and there are tons of games I've played.

My parents are not tech savy at all, they don't care that i play games, and they rarly use my pc, (my dad doesn't use it at alll). The only thing my mum does is play Solitare. So when i asked my parents 6 years ago to buy us a pc, she didn't like the idea, but i convinced her to get it because i could use it for school... But 3 years go, the 350 mhz didn't push it any more, so i asked my mum if she would upgrade/buy a new one, she said no way because no one used it but me, so i had to buy it out of my own pocket, and i built it my self. But all in all they dont care, but my sister, like playing on my xbox, but of course when she wants me to play 2 i pwn her in halo 2.

My wife plays Sims 2, my daughter, 13 yr old, plays GTA vice city & Sims 2. My mum and dad both play Galaxian on some 20 quid console that plugs into their TV at their House.

My missus is'nt to arsed about my hours spent playing games in the evenings or weekends or even my monthly trips to the local LAN in my area, But she won't let me buy any new Hardware..Not til I pay my car off anyways...6 months til my 6600GT then... Also she hates my 50GB collection of Pr0n Videos on my HD...And the 200-300Gb's of it on DVD's...Guess I'm just an old perve!...But ALL blokes look at it...and if they say they don't then their Lying!

my mum used to moan, but i compared it to her watching tv, and she agreed. i dont watch much tv (only 24), so i can class my pc "as my tv" (in her terms).

*looks at what i just wrote* does that make any sense at all? :|

my mum doesnt really mind
my dad says its okay he said that once upon a time he was the King of the Arcade
my Sister (23 years) sometimes likes to play NFSUII

My parents are cool about it. They know I enjoy it and they even encouraged me for a time to look at a university with a game development program. They helped pay for my trip to E3 last year. They bought me 3D Studio Max 5 with a student discount. Then, as some of you may know, my Dad bought me a PSP when it came out.

Me and my Dad play Mario Golf sometimes. He used to play Rad Racer, Punch-Out, and Mario on the old NES. My mom used to play Mario too.

Do i take advantage of their kindness? Hell no. Am I greatful for what I have? You bet I am.

I'm going to print your post and stick it on my refrigerator, next time I get caught with errrr ...stuff ...on my computer I'll just point to the refrigerator and smile :E

My dad couldn't stand that I always played PC and console games when I was at home. He actually referred to it as a "damn disease" which I find quite funny.

My mom just doesn't like it when I'm up really late playing games...hell, she doesn't like it when I'm up late period...even if I'm reading.

My older brother and I used to take turns playing CS when we were back home and we play some games when we're home for holidays and such.

My sister doesn't play games but is curious about some of the games I play.

My parents should be thankful I play a lot of games or else I wouldn't be able to give them "tech support" over the phone and such. My parents are almost completely computer illiterate. My dad will yell to me from across the house for help just because a windows update window pops up... He'll call me (I'm at college now) when his email isn't working right. He only stopped calling me recently about how to turn on the damn surround sound (or sound period) on the reciever in our living room. My mom will struggle with programming the VCR to record a show from time to time as well...

Technology isn't their thing.

My dad LOVED the first Doom, he beat the first episode.
My mum thinks I'm on here too much. She wanted to learn how to play Halo on Xbox...I attempted to teach her but it was completely hopeless.

My dad just falls asleep whenever I even mention the word "game", (either that ot he looks at me blankly because he doesn't understand a word that's blurting out of my mouth), and my mum just lets out a groan when she sees me playing WoW... again. Then tells me to get on with my homework.

My wife is very ambivalent about games. She used to be a Mortal Kombat expert and addicted to Tetris. But recently she hardly ever plays anymore, altho she did a short stint of WoW. She doesn't mind me gaming, as long as I give her enough attention, which is fair I guess. And every now and then she gives me games, or money for hardware. Next month for example I'm buying a new rig and she promised that she will pay for the graphics card ("Get the best!" she said, but when I told her "the best" would put her back around 600 euro's she added: "Get the best for around 300 euro's." hehehe)

My dad got me into gaming in 1978 when he came home with a Pong-console. He still plays on the computer, mostly flight-sims like MSFS2004 and LOMAC. I actually don't know how my mum thinks about that.

My parents are the weirdest combination between amish people and computer experts. My dad used to be THE person with computers (he even had his own class which he funded and started himself), but gradually, his knowledge started to decline, with each new program and OS growing smaller and smaller. Please note my dad was one of the first persons to buy computers. (We have a laptop that has two 3.5 inch diskette drives - One for the OS, one for the data you need to use.) Nowadays he almost always has to ask me about everything.

My mom, she used to know about it a lot too, and she kind of followed the same path my dad did. Now she also has to ask me a lot when she wants something done on the comp. Both of them hated the fact that we played games, but at the same time really didn't restrict them. Maybe they knew in the back of their minds that those children most of the time become experts at computers. (Like most of us here.)

My second youngest brother (22) was also addicted to computer games, and showed me the first games that really made milestones. (DooM, Dune 2, Command And Conquer... Man, I loved that game.)

My dad plays racing games and simulations.
My mum plays RPG and adventure games.
They're pretty easy going with gaming and they enjoy it themselves.

My brother plays GTA sometimes. Everyone else is more or less indifferent.

...

Hmmm

My dad never plays, he has too much fun programing stuff for his bank, etc.
My mom doesn't need to know how to play video games, cause she likes to break other peoples mouse!($80!!! I about killed her!)
My brother; me and him usually had a lan when he lived here, now he plays when he can, he works 12 hour days at Parks Mazda selling, well Mazda's of course.

...my mum is always asking me:
"So how many people have you been shooting tonight, when she hears the AK47 getting triggered in CS. How many years have you been playing that trash now? How can that keep being fun?"
The worse part about it is that my mom knows how ****ing addicting games are. As soon as I find a website with tiny little mind-games she's there in an instant. My dad on the other hand doesn't really care about me playing - but sometimes when I've been spending my entire weekend infront of my computer he'll freak out... The worse thing is I can see why, but I can't let myself go...I need - I need the rays from my monitor!
