What Format for Youtube HD?

When you finish editing the movie they give a choice what fromat to use this guy in Youtube said its called windows media 720p or something like that.I don't have anything close to that in the list.


I'm using Windows Movie Maker 2.6


any tips?

What format do I need to encode my videos with?
For the highest quality, YouTube now recommends these setting for your video:

* H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 format
* 1280x720 resolution
* 44.1KHz Stereo MP3 or AAC audio
* Frame rate as the original video
* Up to 1GB file size and 10 min. duration

However, YouTube accepts a wide range of video file formats such as .WMV, .AVI and .MOV. Again, you may get the best results from converting your file to MPEG4 video with MP3 audio

By the way, WMV is Windows Media Video. It doesn't necessarily mean HD, however, so you will have to select a HD resolution. So, just make sure the resolution is 1280x720.

Yes it does man, I can see it in the image. It says Display size: 720 x, but you've got the drop down menu blocking the rest.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if that software doesn't support HD. Check the help menu or google.

You'll get the highest quality for selecting 'local playback' and the higher the bitrate, the higher the quality. For comparison, the lowest quality setting would be selecting the 'dial up' option

all those videos of people making HD movies for YT they all seem to have a differnt version of Movie maker.

Just make it as big as you can and mp4. Sometimes it's a crapshoot. The YT guidelines are just guidelines.

High Quality Video (NTSC). Then see if you can edit the output size to say 1280x720. For the format, look for mpg4. Or, you can render it to .mov and if you can render with codecs, render with h264.

I uploaded like 10 videos, all different resolution/format/everything. I tried my best to conform to what YT said to do, but not a 1 was HD. I was sad.
