I've always loved the deep theatrical scores of movies. The Lord Of The Rings, Star Wars, etc. What exactly would they be classified as? "Theatrical Music"? Orchestrated? If you kinda understand what I'm describing, please help me out here.

Instrumental/Orchestral

It is only classical if it is indeed classic first.

For lotr it's mostly classical and starwars to, but im not sure if you ask anymore movie songs.

No, not really. "Classical" in the sense of the generic term has no real restrictions on the age it has to be. There are 20th Century composers who are just as respected and skillful as other composers centuries before them.
Holst's The Planets Suite was written in the '30s, to name just one example.

I believe it's called Score.

You are right. The score is the whole instrumental music from a motion picture. Plus there is e.g. the "Main theme" and some other specials like the "Darth Vader theme".

Hah, the score isn't a genre, though. It's just all the music on paper...

Score is the effing notes on the paper like Letters said..

It's orchestral movie soundtracks or some variation of thereof.

Well, it's not my native language and here in germany the notes on the paper are called "partitur" and all orchestral movie sounds together are the "score" :stare:

at least I learned something today :)
