Personally it roxors my boxors, i think its an excellent game, however there are problems, and in keeping with the generall anti Halo 2 feeling ive made a thread to list them-

1.Some of the fighting is a bit naff compared to other parts, i prefer the parts where your dumped in the middle of a room and you must find you own cover, there is to much "linear" play where the enemy is in the next room and you zap in, kill a couple and zap out again. Bungie- if this is because some of your developers are naff then fire them, you owe it to your fans!

2.The hunters are too strong, they take about four plasma grenades and it gets very boring.

2.I think its fair to rob you of your grenades while duel wheeling, but you could of atleast given us a melee!

3.There are too much creating an equivalent of weapons rather than inventing new ones, the real genius is the battle rifle and brute shot but after that it gets a bit plain, the pistol could do with some sort of extra gimick, painting a weapon red and slapping "brute" onto its title is NOT making a new weapon, the carbine and covenant sniper should be brought into one weapon, the covenant could do with a new pistol IMO. What about having a pistol with a red dot target that auto tracks (kinda like a more powerfullo auto aim) and a "needle shot" which fires a small burst of needles at a time that home on more effectively.

eh?

There's not many things I can think of that are wrong with Halo 2 - perhaps Legendary is a little too hard this time, and the vehicle sections are more forced (not allowing the choice Halo offered)

Other than that it's one of the best games i've played in years - and am greatly enjoying single player, co-op and multiplayer.

From my limited experiance, I think single player sucked. :)

The multiplayer has something going, though. I hope when it gets converted to PC the HALO community for that doesn't stride over; none of them have a problem with TKing.

Generally, I think it was a good idea to sacrifice ssome SP goodness for multiplay fun, 'cause multiplay just rules. I can't even say why. :sniper:

the brute plasma rifle is much stronger, it's not just painted red. and they know it's not a new weapon, it's just a modified version

how did they 'sacrifice sp goodness for multiplay fun'

The problem with Halo 2 is that its pretty much a Halo expansion pack, on the SP side, of course. As far as I can see, they really didn't do much to alieviate the repetitive level design, and the new features, while cool, do not drastically change the game. It's still fun - but that just professes to the genius of Halo 1, not the supremacy of the sequel.

^^
Don't forget, that's just my opinion.

Yeah thats exactly how i felt about it. It was still a fun game, but it could've been much more.

I never liked Halo 1 because sp was repetitive and there was only one decent map in mp so the game couldn't hold my attention for too long. When the game gets into full stride it was pretty fun (mp only).

I wasn't expecting much with Halo 2 but the additions and changes that Bungie were very good.

Mp improved heaps even if again one excellent map (zanzibar), the others were a lot better than in h1 though. Also dual wielding was a very welcome addition as was target tracking with the rocket launcher.

I had an absolute blast playing zanzibar with my brothers, the level offers excellent coverage, weapon placement, the level is extremely tactical when you have a good opponent. It was the level, i thought, that truly showed why Halo is so loved. But unfortunately it got old pretty quick.

It's too bad the sp mode was again uninspiring, levels were boring to look at, repetitive design but the enemies were smart and i just love the tactical nature of the game.

BOOOOooo. Like they needed that damn thing even easier to use. It's like an awp but all you have to do is aim at the ground. I hate having to use it just because my opposition does...

I bought Halo 2 and was thouroughly dissapointed, Live play sucks you cant even get a server list... sp is boring and uninspired.. ugh.

By placing vehicles all over the place, making melee fighting more viable, and generally spending more time on refining it. IMHO, single player was quite uninspiring.

I played Halo 2 multiplayer. Quite frankly it sucked royally. That is my opinion.

Cons

- My biggest beef is that I had no idea how many bullets where in my weapon at a given time. That drove me up the wall.
- I really enjoyed the old Halo's health/shield system. It added a sense of drama once you realized you shield had failed. Now it is like any other FPS once your health reaches zero.
- Weapons seem more balanced except they all seem the same. It took me an hour of playing to realize that there are two assault/battle rifles (whatever you call them) in the game. Not a good sign.
- The maps still seem way to big for 4 player. Yes, I know about X-Box live, but they still should have included some smaller maps.

Pros

- I like the slower pace
- I like the map design

Then again, what do I know. I have a severe bias for PC games. :p

I agree - it all depends on whether you wanted more of the same, or something new.

As for the levels feeling repetitive - I find that only grates on the easier settings (normal and below) Once you hit heroic and legendary the game is far too tense, exciting and challenging to notice the few areas where there is some repetition. (on the whole Halo 2 is very varied in level design)

Either way - every other shooter i've purchased this year has been done and dusted (and, bar a few, greatly enjoyed ... especially HL2 :)). Halo 2 is still demanding practise and play, though (and probably will do for the next 6 months)

Only online gaming can compete with the xen-like, 'in the zone' moments it takes to master legendary - other single player shooters don't even come close.

And I can respect your viewpoint, because you back it up with facts and well-argued opinions.

well. halo2 multiplayer sucked, cause the server joining part was horrible, and it was okay on the gameplay, singleplayer, was AWESOME the first 5 levels, then the game dropped down, then i get to the last level, and im too bored of halo2, that i dont feel like beating it, so i turn off the xbox and have not played for about 4 weeks now.

I can see how you love the game. I feel the same way about Ninja Gaiden. I've finished it 5 times of Normal, so i thought i was good enough to play through it on Hard. BIG mistake. I died 3 times on the first level even with my supreme ninja skills and cat-like reflexes.

Personally i didn't enjoy Halo 2 on Heroic or Legendary, it just made the game longer and it was more of the same.

I love Legendary, the AI is god damn amazing in that difficulty.. It's like a whole other game compared to normal.

I find the Elite A.I just camps alot more, and thanks to the regenerating shield their bitches because of it.

Legendary is only fun when once you've conquered it (untill then it's just lots of dying and repeating - which is no fun) Being able to charge through a level without dying is very satisfying :)

I hear what you've saying about Ninja Gaiden Sparta - that game is rock solid /o\ Viewtiful Joe and Monkey Ball can be bastards too.

But all of these games (imo) are so much more rewarding once you've learnt them well enough to finish on the harder settings.

Horses for courses.

What is this "Monkey Ball" i keep hearing about?

One of the best games ever made (imo, of course) (you ever play Marble Madness or Zany Golf back in the day?)

Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 are two of the most fiendishly addictive/compulsive/enjoyable/frustrating/crazy games ever made lol (they also come with very sweet party games :)) They're so good that even girls and my parents love them.

Once only available for the GC, a duluxe version is coming out for the Xbox and PS2.

It's a very simple idea (like all the best) You tilt the land with the analogue stick and roll your monkey into the goal (if only it were that simple tho :))

Some (poor quality) screenshots http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpagesscreens/516640.asp?pagenum=4

One of Segas best :) (well worth a buy, and at least a rent)

It's boring and way over-rated in my opinion. I played it for like 30 minutes, got bored, and it has been sitting in the X-box since then. :dozey:

yes, we've seen it a hundred times [all the variations with different hl2 fans taking the credit for it] and it still sucks/is lame.

get over it noob.

I just finished the game today. Started it on the weekend after it's release, and then playing it in spurts.

I didn't like the beginning and that other, new, alien character; but after a while, I got used to it and began to enjoy the story. Unfortunately this occured 4 levels before the end, and then the realization that I would have to wait at least another year for the continuation of the story set in.

I'm glad I stuck to the game and finished it. It was different in approach and execution, but strangely satisfying at the end (even if it was abrupt).

he never claimed it was his.
First time i've seen it..

get over yourself :)

-_-

You're just making a fool of yourself. Stop and think.
Some people have never seen it before. Some people think that it's amusing. After all, opinion is what this thread is about.

and you just attacked my opinion, fool!

* i'm kind of randomly having fun btw, don't take this seriously.

Halo 2 was a big let down for me, I spent all that extra cash on the CE and I hardly play the game.

-Same basic gameplay features (except dual wielding and vehicle stealing)
-New weapons, except the fact that they feel like recreations of old Halo 1 weapons. The Battle Rifle was the only gun I was impressed by
-same boring vehicles NOW WITH BOOST OMFGYAY!!!!!!!
-Levels are bad, except the outdoor ones, they feel like Halo 1 CQC DM maps

Halo 1 and 2 are too generic. In my experience they never struck a key aspect of gaming I like deep enough, for me to enjoy my $90 purchase.
