By saying this isnt a newb question im not asking how to overclock. The problem i have is that im useing a p4p800deluxe with a 2.4c pentium 4 and 400mhz ram.

The problem with that is that the PAT or the thing that is used to make the ram transfer to the processor faster for more memory bandwith i belive disables itself if the ram ratio isnt 1:1.

My question is, is it better to have the p4 running at stock aka 2.4 and haveing a 1:1 for the PAT to be on? OR To overclock the p4 to 2.8ghz and feel sorry formyself becuase the PAT turns itself off....?

Also this one might be a newb question but hopefull not. Has anyone else seen/have the problem of that- Overclocking your radeon 9800 pro to 430/350 has no effect or a minor effect on the halflife 2 benchmark? Im useing the cat pack 4.8 and useing radlinker to set the mhzs on that and literaly i get less than a .5 increse for that big overclock. Is it the drivers or is radlinker lieing about setting the core/mem?

Thanks guys, yer awsome

the ram has to be 1:1 for PAT to work. In my experience, PAT really doesnt make a huge difference, or enough to justify a low CPU speed. What you should do is see how far you can push your ram/cpu and then benchmark it to see which one is better.
