What is the best AGP video card I can buy?

I just returned a faulty Diamond x1950 pro, and I'm wondering which card to try next. Is the x1950 the best AGP card available? I don't want to get another diamond only for it to not work on me again, so I was wondering which card to try.

I saw some ATI HD2600's and 2900's at frys, and they seem to have shader model 4.0 and DX10 support...but I don't know how fast those cards are.

I'm also completely clueless when it comes to Nvidia.
 
It's a little silly to shy away just because 1 card was faulty. DOA hardware is generally a very low percentage.. Unless of course they dropped the box from the ceiling, I doubt the rest will be the same.

I think the X1950 Pro might be the faster card in that price range although the 2600XT (out now) and 8600GTS (not yet released in AGP) are DX10 cards. But nothing on AGP is faster than those.
 
Hmm yes, I saw the 2600 (I was mistaken on 2900, don't know what I was thinking), and I'm wondering if its better to get the DX10 card or get the x1950, which is a faster dx9 card.
