Now, before you flame, know that I would love playing with 64 players. After all, I've been doing it for a couple on years now on battlefield.

Tell me this...

What is the point of 64 player CS:S server if de_dust only has 32 player spawns!?

So far, there has been no de-compiling and modification of any CS:S map and no 64 player spawn maps.

I'm glad to see 64 player support, but it's kinda disappointing to get to a server and having "all teams are full" pop up...

I agree. its just too much for a map that small.

I don't think dust would be very good with 64 people. Kinda like a laggy Middle Eastern mosh pit.

I doubt that dust will have the 64 player support. I think only certain maps will have the 64 player option.

On the other hand, I think survivor would rock with 64 players...

So would militia, as long as people didn't clog the tunnels. ;)

Estate would absolutely suck on Source.

I am sure Vavle will think of making map special for 64 Players :p De Dust is too small.

Let's not forget that IF Valve made 64 player available, their wouldnt be a gun to our heads forcing us to play on 64 player servers. Only some would like to. Its an option. :)

I didn't think 64 players was possible, Isn't the limit 40? Or is there something I missed...

btw, i hope that none of the maps from the old cs are 64 since all of them were built for 32 players. It would be pretty cramped. If valve wants 64 players, then i hope they make new maps large enough for that many people.

The limit for the source engine is 256. But Eric Johnson stated there isn't that many computers out there that could handle that many people.

lol, that's funny!!

actually I run a server that's a P4 3.0ghz with 2gb ram and I can handle a total of about 60 slots. Possibly more but I haven't maxed out...too much potential for problems.

In theory the real limitation is bandwidth. It only takes so much cpu to run the server. The memory and bandwidth increase with more and more people added. Cpu is really not as big a factor.

Interesting question though. Anyone try a 128p server? need a huge map!!

Most if not all official maps are 40 players, custom maps often support up to 64. Try de_redheat =p

I've never seen any 64 players. Probally because I only play on like 2 servers. [EDIT] Oh yeah, welcome to the forums Odos :p [EDIT]

Heh...in CoD I played a 100 person server....that was fun :).

the highest cod server i played on is some french 64 player server, the only game i played with more than 64 was delta force 2 and lw to my recollection.

I've played in a few 64 player servers.

The first 32 spawns were in their normal spots. The next 32 spawns were right on top of the first 32 spawns. It's too laggy to have a good time anyway.

I played in 64 player servers a few times. Two times it was full and only 20 players were allowed on each team. I had to wait over 25 minutes just to get out of spectator mode and join a team both times!

32 players is already too much. I don't see why you would want more. Maybe if there were some really big maps, but then again, I guess most of my favorite maps are the smaller ones. Plus, I have dialup and it would be bad for me, lol.

Are there any map at all with 64 players? I've only played on 40 servers. If I try to join with one with more than that I just get that all teams are full.
