What is your main Reason for HL2 Purchase?

There is no multiplyer in HL2, other than CS:S.

I'm the same way, the games nowadays aren't as great as everyone is putting them up to be. I just hope HL2 has a GREAT storyline (which I don't doubt it will) and fun gameplay. The graphix are just a plus in my book. If I cared for the graphix, I wouldn't be playing Dragon Warrior 3 anymore...or Final Fantasy 7 for that matter --;

The action and tension is second to none. Unreal Tournament 2004 is the single best arcade style team based shooter ever conceived, and the Battlefield series is revolutionising multiplayer.

I dont recall them saying TF2 was stand alone. They said they would release info about it after HL2 launch. In other words you will be playing the game after HL2 launch. Well it could happen, we can dream cant we.

At first id probably play the multiplayer just for the laugh of getting on a server and been one of the first and having a laugh with the other people.
You cant judge the menu at E3 wether there is a HL2 multiplayer or not.

All those games listed are FPS, frankly im sick of FPS they have all been the same pretty much since HL or basicly FPS from around that time. Doom3 was nothing more than graphics, if you took them away it was doom/2, didnt play farcry cant judge, UT2k4 is pretty much the same as UT. I have found lately, most games have been really boring. What we need is some original content, thats what made games better in the earlier days as there was alot of space for original ideas now you just get people copying other people. If your gonner copy a game design that has been done before what you need is a really good story. Which are also lacking. HL2 story could be good but there is some original content in HL2 and that is the ability to basicly throw everyday crap at people to kill them instead of actually shooting them. You could make a MP map which was just full of barrels what was that old doom map called that was full of barrels, barrels was it. I dunno. Anyway you could have barrle wars and kill each other with barrels have a few surpises with the odd one that is volitile.

bf1942 no way in hell, its so slow and glitchy the engine sucks
doom3 is far from amazing, sorry, after the 3rd room of ::insert imp here:: it gets really old, really fast (and i was a big doom 3 fanboy til i played it)
far cry...sigh...im not getting into that one with u again. thats like saying, despite EVERYTHING in the game, it was fun.

Uhm, I think the credit should go to Unreal Tournament itself. At the time it was plain awesome (not to mention having really good AI -especially for that time), and although I haven't played the 2k4 edition it appears to me to be simply a next and "bigger-and-better" installment.


Either way I'm gonna buy HL2 for the singleplayer first, because from what I've seen in the vids the game just oozes atmosphere and gameplay.
And after I get bored with it I'll pop up online.

because there not evil money grabing bastards. Would be nice to find one. Didnt they say at frist that CS:S was gonner be stand alone but then obviously changed there mind. They did that in mind of losing money. Although that was to gain money as well.

TF2 could still be kind of stand alone. if its on a seperate disc and not on the HL2 installer. Also the fact you would have to dled it seperate on steam. Although thats abit daft. Well you could just say that gabe said rthat so people didnt think it was comin and then to your suprise its there. You cant take everything said at valve word for word and sadly most if not everyone seems to do so. Although i am kind of dreaming with this TF2 it would be great if it did come with HL2 but id say realisticly there is a slim chance.
