my games arent runnin smooth and i really think its the memory....i have a dell computer.....i had the 400 mhz memory....i wanna get 512k memory chips

well if its 400mhz then u need to get a stick of pc3200 DDR ram and if u dont have alot of money get one with a cas latency of 3 (ex. 3-3-3-8)the first number is the number is the cas latency but the lower the number the cas is the better performance it is but knowing dell they prob. put cheap ram in your pc

Memory is memory, who the hell cares about all these stupid codes and numbers?

To a person that knows nothing about PC's, they would say that. But their is a difference.....

Yes... Yes THERE is.... :E

You need decent ram for gaming. But make sure your motherboard can support the certain speeds (And there ends my knowledge on the subject).

"lol hmm the ram dosent fit hmm i wonder if i cut the ram in half i can still have the same amount but in 2 slots hehe im such a genuis"

how about ballistix memory from crucial.com....says its perfect for gaming...anyone know about this kind of ram?...and its compatable with my dell computer 2...its neat u tell it what your computer is and it picks out the memory for u...kuddos who suggested it

how about ballistix memory from crucial.com?....says its perfect for gaming....anyone else heard of this and its perfect for my dell too....u tell it the name of your computer and it tells u what memory to get so ill get the perfect memory for my dell....kuddos who mentioned that website

I like Corsair XMS memory. Kingston and OCZ are good too, it's mostly just a personal preference.

These and the crucial ballistix you mentioned would do just fine. If you don't plan on overclocking then just look for the modules with the best timings. And when you say 533 speed, do you mean DDR2 533 ram or that you have a 533 mhz fsb processor ?

yes the ddr2 533 ram i want....i only have the 400 speed....

ah ok, so i assume you are running the fsb and ram asynchroniously ?

i didn't even realise you could use ddr in a ddr2 board, bacwards compatibility ftw !!!!

i would recommend corsair xms2 ddr2 ram in this case, 2 x 512 sticks should do you just nicely.

sir i want the ddr2 memory...im getting 2 512 k ddr2 chips for my computer...1 question is are they as fast as they say?....it says on some computers you may not get the speed it says....god i hope i get the speed coz i dont wanna waste my money here....sir these memory chips are ddr2 not ddr anyway....i think you are confused here...

oh about the memory u suggested...i looked and it and i cant find the 4200 kind anyway....it says 4300 and im not taking a chance either.....but thanks for the advice :)...i mean the corsair memory modules

What CPU do you have? Do you have DDR400? If so you cannot use DDR 2 533 (different slot). What makes you think your memory is keeping your games from running smooth? Can you list your system specs and what games you are playing?

FYI DDR2 isn't exactly better than DDR even if the DDR2 is faster speed because DDR2 has higher latency.

Check some of those charts out. Notice the 2.8GHz Pentium 4 with low latency memory beats the 3GHz Pentium 4 with CL3 memory in a number of benchmarks. Both are DDR400.

i have a ddr2 motherboard....well i dont have good memory....when i purchased it i didnt get the best memory....i do not really know if better memory would help me or not...im not mixing anything up...my computer can take the pc-3200 or pc4200...i was gonna upgrade my memory cause it was suggested i do that....i dont have a reason why its not smooth but maybe better memory especially for games might help it...i will see...

well im playing half life 2 right now...my specs are i have a dell 3.2 mhz computer.....1024 megs of ram....i have a radeon x850 xl pe pci express video card....my ram is pc-3200....thats 400 mhz...i just think its the memory....i dont know what else to do....nothing works ive tried....on half life 2 on the texture detail setting if i put it to high game is not smooth....i put it to low its fine....so theres something defanately wrong here

I could well be wrong here, but did they not mate the ddr2 motherboards backwards compatible with ddr ram ?

Corsair do ddr2 versions of their value select modules and they do pc4200 versions. 1gb dual channel (2 x 512) is 76 pounds

all i know is i have to get ddr2 ram....i read my manual and it takes either pc-3200 or pc-4200 ram...sir i dont want value ram.....i want ram thats made for games especially

Value select doesn't mean that is a "cheap value brand"
i have it and it's w00t
CAS 2.5 on mine
