What Monitor for $200??

This is the monitor that I got and I love it. It's great! The one you have looks good too.

I bought this Asus monitor a year or so back (obviously deactivated now though):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236028

And I love it. Seems comparable to the one you picked (some differences though). Speakers are garbage but I don't think most people use monitor speakers.

Mine, too, at the time had a $20 rebate and I can say Asus came through fine with it. Took about two months, but that's fine for me.

I was aiming for a Samsung model, but at the time the price was more than I wanted to pay and thus I settled on the Asus.

I would have got with the Samsung first if I could, but I am very very happy with the Asus.

mhm...I think I might the asus then my uncle has the Acer 22" and I don't like the stand it has.

is 23" to big?

Not at all. I have a 24" and I feel it is just the right size. Its big enough to have more windows up but not too big to where you are searching for stuff.

wow that's awesome my samsung has 2ms right now will i notice a big difference? or will there be no ghosting at all?

well 3 ms is so fast you probably won't notice it unless your a freak of nature

also this is the SEX!

The one in the op is good, I have a 26" Asus and I absolutely love it.

is this a good deal, it has 5ms but the dynamic contrast is much larger and probably worth it

Dynamic contrast is a false selling point. It's much better to get a monitor that has good contrast to begin with. Mine has dynamic contrast, but I don't use it. I've also heard some complaints that the colors on that Viewsonic tend to appear washed out. If I were to choose a monitor at this price point, I would go with this new Acer arrival:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...C-IGNEFL072309-_-LCDMonitors-_-L0O-_-24009179

You get $10 off with coupon code EMCLVNP25.

yeah but I'd hate to buy a brand new product. it may be better but 12 months down the road who knows! I'd rather have a well reviewed 5 star monitor than a brand new one and take a risk. plus the one he got was like $20 cheaper, which can buy you a nice PC game nowadays

It's actually $10 more with the coupon code, and lacks the recycling tax. It's also a larger screen and has HDMI, whereas the Viewsonic does not. Lately the quality of Viewsonic has been on the decline, while Acer is a continually proven brand.

you should have visited this thread sooner. if not the buy.com site is pretty good with returns or cancels

see, a little bit of digging and patience and you find yourself an even better deal. as for me i think a 24-26in LED LCD would be better waiting for.

I hope this comment was directed at the OP. :p I spent nearly 3 weeks researching and shopping around for my current 24". I consider the monitor to be one of the most important investments of a PC. Even with all the best components, it can all be for naught if the monitor is junk.

lol I ordered it yesterday///I was about to leave the house and it was sitting on my porch.

sofar I'm very happy with the monitor

Speaking of monitors, during my last monitor purchase, I had a hard time finding hi-res monitors (1200x1600 or higher) at store fronts like BestBuy and OfficeMax lately, much less any that were standard resolution as I never was crazy about wide-screen. Not that my SLI 7600GT video cards could cut the mustard at a decent framerate anyways for some of my older 2004-2007 PC games I still play from time to time, and I can only stand to play PC games on their highest settings, or my enjoyment is lost knowing texture quality in these games could've looked better.

It seems TigerDirect or NewEgg is the only place to go for a decent monitor these days. Just make sure you get a decent warranty and it covers some type of "dead-pixel-policy" and money back guarantee, or you'll be sorry.

Newegg's dead pixel policy is pretty poor. They require a minimum of 8 dead pixels before you can return it for that reason. The best thing to do is check with the actual manufacturer and see what their policy is. I can tell you that Samsung has a 0 dead pixel guarantee.

Buy a Dell moniter, they are really good.

It really depends on the model. Some have horrendous input lag, while others are legendary (the 2209WA was incredible for the price, though it's unfortunately discontinued).
