i planned on getting an athlon xp64 3200+, and also wanted to put some ddr2 533mhz RAM. for some reason i can't find a board with ddr2 for athlon sockets, only intels, i'm confused...

there is no authlon board with ddr2 sry man :|
INTEL RULES!!!!!..... plz dont beat the crap out of me :p

i don't believe you, this sucks too much. i don't want to have a intel :(

thats the truth you can wait for asus to answer that question of yurs...... :cheese:

Isnt DDR2 slower than DDR? atleast as of current?

No, only Intel's LGA775 socket uses DDR2.

AMD does not plan to adopt DDR2 (if at all) until late 2005.

DDR2 is only part of the transition to DDR3. DDR2 is better for power and heat but it takes the Intel way at making things better. It allows for higher clock speeds but it has a higher latency which makes DDR400 faster than DDR2533 a lot of times.

Until DDR2 667, DDR will still be faster.
If you know how to OC, they actually have memory rated at DDR 600 right now but boards don't consider it a standard.

Just because it's DDR2 doesn't mean it's better. Here are some DDR vs DDR2 benchmarks all on Intel's LGA775 platform. :x

MSI, i just installed a 64 bit 3200 on a MSI 64 bit board, they are nice.
