What original mods are out there?

Okay, since you guys have been here awhile, especially dark elf and such, I'm assuming you've seen a good 80% of the halflife2 mods out there. My question is, what do you guys think are the most original ones?

After browsing hl2modcentral, I was kinda disappointed on the lack of new gameplay ideas. Nearly all the mods are shooters, excepting a few racing ones and a small percentage of "others".

Except halflife2.net's very own "Sourceworld", which looks like one of the best out there.

So, I ask the community, what mods out there look the most creative and original? (but still fun)
 
Well, we can't really decide untill we play them. Indid they are a lot of shooters and CS clones in a way.
Just you wait, just you wait....

You'l have to exuse me on this one, But I'll desagre with you this time, EoJ seems very clishé from what I just read.
 
Well, the comedy aspect is what I like about it. Oh, and the presence of fruity weapons ;)

I think you will see many new original mods when the SDK is out and you know what you can do with it.

I doubt it, there will be a few, but the majority will be regular lame ones. Which is a good thing, makes the few really good ones stand out more.

I would agree with that, faceposer will be an extremely powerfull program that will allow you to do about 50x as much in single player than you were able to do in HL
 
http://www.brokenoath.net. ok iam bias because i work for the mod but there are some interesting new ideas. it's a Stargate co-op mod with gameplay modes like replicator wars where u and your team go up against an ever increasing group of replicators. plus all the other old classic modes and some other new ones.

I've a feeling thats more likely going to lead to lots of over used expressions that end up being considered badly done as they are so easy to compare to the real thing. Animating a face correctly isn't easy, and faceposer isn't going to make it much easier, the mods will still need to create those facial poses for it to use, it wont do any of that for you. So its all back down to the talent in a mod team. Even then, good facial movements doesn't make for a great mod if the rest isn't up to par. Get perfect expressions by making a film with real people, doesn't mean its any good :\

Yes, I think one with guns, or one that uses them very creatively would be nice.
 
I certainly hope everyone thinks our mod is original (check the sig)

The design doc has been refined since the BF1942 days (mod concept for ES has been around for like 2-3 years and we've kept adding and improving)

hehehehe, I can remember me and you talking about this before. I will show you my new idea, its pritty dam weird. I decided to get rid of all this bullshite with m4a1's and even bullets them self. The world in which I have designed is all digital. Its hard to explain because its quite a complex idea. But Dark Elf thought it seems a little original. But I have a lot of issues with gameplay atm and my computer is dead (it blow up) :O

Ow and btw, I have replaced weapons with viruses, programs and anti-viruses :D Also its not a game where you throw anything at another to kill them (bullets). Its more about locking on rather than moving mouse mouse and pressing mouse1. Its hard to explain really. I will have to wait until I semi-finish the design document before it will become clear.

anyway back to subject

The most original mod I have seen so far is Corporate Anarchy. Hense why I am in the team :P Its a game of stealth, wallhack, speed, ability, control and power. Thats about as easy as I can put it :D

Shhhh! if people find out I was nice about a mod it'll confuzzle them, im supposed to be nasty remember, they'll stop sending complaint emails to Munro if they find out im not :p

LOL! I wasn't actually going to mention you. I also kinda brought is down a little with the words 'little original' because I don't fully know what you thought. I have expanded on the dieas though. I can't wait tog et my computer back to write it all down. Its going to blow everyone away :D hopfully :P

If its more apealing that my other concepts I may see how much people want it and start development. We will have to see if its good or its a flop :D

I already have some people waiting for the documentation since they liked it so much :D

Hehe, but what if something like waht you explained is exactly what I was planning to do in a mod??? hehe

Like in the mod I talked about in the other thread(kung fu mod). I thought about giving those kinds of "over acted" facial expressions in addition to badly acted vioce overs to give that cheesey kung fu dubed effect. :laugh:
