What roles do you play in games or in guilds

Hello everyone I'm normally a lurker but I have to write a paper for school, so I made this account.
I'm interested in knowing the relationship between gender, political preference, personality type and the roles you play in games.
The most important would be the relationship between gender and roles. Since that is my main focus.



1) I would like to know if you're male or female.

2) And what roles you play. This means things like sniper, medic/healer, rogue.

But more importantly concerning MMO's, what kind of social roles do you play. Do you have your own guild, how is it organized, do you share loot. Do you sell a lot of goods in mmo's. Stories about other people are great to. So if you noticed that the guild master are often the leadership type. Or that females tend to play a certain roles more than others. I would want to hear about that.

As far as myself goss In WoW beta I played a druid. I was in a guild, only males. We had a common treasury where you could dump gold if you wanted too so people could buy the stuff they needed, and later repay the gold without interests. In TF2 I play the engineer and sniper a lot. In battlefield 2 I mostly played lone wolf spec ops. In Guild Wars I played monk mesmer, and Elementalist Necromancer

Stealth characters in RPG's, mostly hybrids like Stealth Rogues, Stealth Mages (Nightblade in Morrowind ), or just a regular Thief or Assassin. I also love stealth games like Splinter Cell, Deus Ex, Metal Gear Solid games, etc. if that helps.

In MMO's, I tend to go alone, or with one person.. When I'm bored I usually help noobs out beating bosses, giving them crap (but good for low level) items, etc. In MMO's I usually play characters like Assassins, Druids, Mages. I always go for the 'stealth' class first, though, and it depends on what game you're talking about, Diablo 2 I used Sorceress.

I command a Squad in the Project Reality Tournament, we're all male (though there is a female on my team, she's a hell of an AT gunner). Basically it entails organizing training as well as leading the squad in matches and when we go pubbing and also getting involved in some of the decisions of the higher echelons. Tactically I prefer to get in close and get in fast so I can pulverise the enemy as rapidly as possible and take control of the area they had. I don't have too much of a problem with getting hurt in most games, provided I deal out more damage. My basic thinking in faster paced less teamwork orientated games is to kill the enemy and take his ground (which can cause a bit of trouble for me in CoD 4...)

2. In Day of Defeat I go Sniper or Assault. In TF2, I usually go Medic, Engineer, or Pyro. In Guild Wars, I go either Elementalist/Monk or Monk/Ranger. In terms of my guild/clan, I usually do whatever role is asked of me, be it damage-doing or healing.

2. Healer/Support, I've always enjoyed these types of role more. Such as the medic in TF2 or the Priest/Support classes in mmorpgs - I just think they provide a more alternative and interesting method of play and are usually the most sorely needed.

2. What role I play depends a lot on what I feel like at the time or what my team needs. I like to play every class in TF2 except the sniper. I also like to find effective but unconventional ways to play. In my WoW guild when I used to play, I wasn't a leader but got to be known as the somewhat aloof crazy-good PvP guy. So while I'd never start a group I was generally one of the first to be invited. I'm content being the soldier under a general, but the best damn soldier out there! We used a 1 item per week thing for our loot... none of those silly points. Well, that, mixed with just plain common sense and courtesy... wasn't rare for people to pass on a certain item for someone we knew wanted it for a while.

2. In team-based games, like TF2 or WoW, I will willingly play any role that is needed, and I always strive to do it right, especially in WoW. I hardly ever play as a sniper in any game, unless I have a specific goal to accomplish, usually counter-sniping. I view sniping as simple cowardice. The thing I like doing most in multi-player games is breaking/disrupting enemy lines. If I die several times, it's worth it.

2. In teamplay FPS games, my role varies depending on what I feel like playing, and what the team needs. While I will usually have a preference for what role I'm in the mood to play, I will always consider what the team needs. Speaking generally though, I'm most often support in BF2 and soldier in TF2.

In MMOs, I'm always the guild leader. Organization is usually a rigid chain of ranks rather than being a loose guild. I'll readily share and trade loot if someone needs something.

Despite having a guild I'm almost always solo. I don't make friends easily in MMOs; I'm not that social a gamer. I rarely ever even play with my mates in MMORPGs. Yet despite that, I tend to be the type of person who, if someone asks me for help, I'll help them out. I once dropped what I was doing to help this guy level for 3 hours, even though I got absolutely no benefit from it.

I also tend to play the character who sits back and fights from a distance, such as warlock in WoW, mastermind in CoV, and gunslinger in Ragnarok. In WoW specifically, with raids, I'm the guy in back giving support.
