What should I charge?

I'm just starting to get into contracting my website creation services, but I have no idea what charge people. For example, I have a potential client who is asking for a fairly simple website, but will be dynamically updatable. Most likely they'll just want an interface where they can add text to certain areas, or add pictures to a gallery, etc.

I was thinking around $1000 ... is this overpriced? Underpriced? Can anyone show me some examples of websites they've done and how much was charged?

Thanks!

depends on how long it will take you ...set yourself an hourly wage ...and then estimate how long it would take you to complete the project. $1000 isnt too high for a website, but it all depends on the client ...you run the risk of scaring him away if he thinks the price is too high ...call up a web design studio and ask how much for that particular site. ..it can give you a good idea of the range
