Like many of you here I am planning on buying Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory, but I have have a tough choice to make, I can either get the game for PC or Xbox. It's obvious that the PC version will look better but what I am asking is which one do you think will be more fun to play, easier to control ect. Please give me lots of advice/opinions!

NOTE:
-I don't have XBL
-I will probably have to run SC:CT on Medium settings

One thing I noticed in the PC demo was that It was hard to sneak up behind enemies because the "w" button is not pressure sensitve making it difficult to walk slowly, I had to keep tapping the "w" button so I wouldn't start to run. :rolling: Is there a button that you can press to walk like shift or something?

Of course I have a scroll wheel :hmph: ... but what would you do If you didn't have one?

SC:CT on Medium is a gazillion times better than anything the X-Box can do. Besides, Medium is still pretty.

I dunno about a gazillion...that's a LOT... :p

Xbox definitely has better control than PC due to the analog control sticks (in my experience anyways). If you're getting it for online play then go PC. I have XBL but I'm not that big on the MP any more...so I'm gonna get the Xbox version simply because of the split-screen co-op with my buddies.

Get it for PC... this shouldn't even be a question.

Yeah, thats what i'm worried about, in the PC demo I couldn't sneak up behind anyone because I would always start running :flame:

Got to play SC:CT @ i23 Friday (CO-OP), I sucked though, only played SC on PC

I had that problem too. After playing the xbox versions of SC & SCPT I couldn't get used to the pc controls at all. Did you ever play SCPT MP? If you really liked it and wanna play SCCT's MP then go PC and just try to adjust to the mouse wheel. I for one had my fill of SC versus mode and I'm just focused on the SP and Co-op - not to mention my comp can't handle the best settings on PC so it'd just look and play better on xbox for me.

Well I tried to play SC : PT's multiplayer but nobody was online, I still walked around by myself, it seemed like it could have been fun. Oh and by the way I was being sarcastic when I said that I had a mouse wheel ;) Buuuuhhh!! I still can't decide I need MORE advice :)

wow..I missed that
thought it was coming sometime Summer

Heres what you do, go to the store buy the Pc Version.
PM me for my contact info.
Send me the copy.

Or just by the Pc Version for yourself.

The 29th here in America-land I think.

I wonder how it'll work when they release new maps for versus and co-op. Will XBL'ers have to pay while PC players just get them free? Did PC players get those 2 maps that were added to SCPT versus?

Nope... I just double checked, its actually coming out March 28th ;) It must be breaking some kind of record too, its being released on basically every system PC | Xbox | GameCube | PlayStation 2 | DS | N-Gage (poor PSP, although it probably will get relaesed on it eventually) Back on topic... I am still undecided!!!! I need more advice!!!!!

Well...assuming you're looking for longevity...MP will be a big factor. Now versus mode is fun, but you'll probably be playing with complete strangers (as with most games online) and sometimes it can be annoying if you play with crappy players or lame players that ruin the game for fun. Co-op on or offline will be great. I've played split-screen on the xbox and it's really sweet. The best part of co-op if you ask me is playing with a friend split-screen or between rooms (I'm assuming you can't play split-screen with a buddy on PC). Playing online would be pretty cool, but it wouldn't the same with a complete stranger. SP of course won't change a bit except for your controls. My mouse wheel is touchy and I have troubles making sure I have the right sneak-speed on the PC demo...so that's no good for me. Since I care most about the co-op with a buddy, xbox is my choice.

EDIT: Actually I hear the xbox version is the only one with the shotgun attachment for the SC-20k. Another factor if you were weighing MP on both would be the headset. The vast majority of XBL players have a headset and that makes a big difference in MP. Much better teamwork comes from the headset and in Co-op the headset adds another sense of difficulty. Enemies will hear you talk if you talk too loud through the headset in co-op :)

Well I don't have XBL or a headset... but I do have XBC, have you ever heard of it? Do you know If SC : CT can be played via XBC? Or maybe I can just plead with my parents to pay for 6 months of XBL with a headset... that would probably make getting the game for the Xbox worth it.

Xbox version is useless unless you're getting XBL. Go with PC just so you get the awesome multiplayer options. I'm sure that SC:CT will come with one of those 2 month trials and if you can shell out for a cheap-o headset i think it'd be worth it

in the xbox you can play more confortable,in your living room or whetever you can put the tv and the console

also I think co-op split screen can be cool cuz the 2 can see whats is happening in the other screen

so I think xbox is better decition if you cant run the PC whit maximun settings and all that

Ok, so far a huge advantage is that the Xbox version has split screen Co-Op (and from Halo 2 I know how fun Split Screen Co-Op can be) Also I can't get two months free because I used it up with Halo 2, does anybody know If this game will have System link?

Another question is how smooth do you think the framerate will be on my PC?

Athlon XP 2200
1024mb SDRAM
Radeon 9600XT

On the demo I played with high settings, but it really slowed down when I got close to the lighthouse for some reason. :hmph:

There is system link for co-op and versus.

Cool, that means it would be possible to play it with XBC.

Yep. XBC is great :) That's how I played Halo 1 online all the time with friends.

Hmmmmm... this is all great advice, but I still can't decide, I might have to sleep on this one :p Anyway I've got a week to make my decision.

Go with Xbox.

Sorry, but that doesn't help much, please explain.
Well, I prefer the control and comfortability of playing it on the Xbox. I own and have beaten the first and Pandora Tomorrow and I enjoyed it much more than playing it on PC. I think stealth action shooters are best played on consoles. Plus, you won't have to settle with medium settings-it looks damn pretty on Xbox.

Thats more like what I want to hear! Well I don't know how SC controls on the Xbox, because you wouldn't have called me the biggest fan of the series untill I played the Chaos Theary PC demo and actually started to respect the series. Hmmmm, If the graphics on the Xbox are as good as people are saying arn't there any framerate issues?

Surely not. Silky-smooth framerates throughout.

Wow, the developers even said that they designed the game with next generation consoles in mind. Why is it that it runs percectly fine on the Xbox, but only runs ok on my computer with 5 times the power? It just isn't right! ;(
