just wanted opinions, but if someone bought an old PC that's like 500 Mhz, 96MB RAM, 500 MB hard drive, and a very old monitor for 600 bucks, would it be their fault for not knowing what they bought, or the seller for not telling them what it would really be worth?

It would be the buyer's and seller's fault. I personally would put more blame on the seller. Then again I try to be an ethical person.

I'm horrible at guessing the value of old computers. Try a search on E-bay.

Itd be the buyers fault...
Unless the seller said
That it was something else

If i could get 600 bucks
For my old comp
Id do it.

Perhaps the seller wasn't trying to rip them off and sold it at what they originally bought it / less but don't know much about the depreciation computer parts go through and how quickly.

technically, it's the buyers fault, of course (regardless of whether the seller knew it was a rip-off). buyer beware, as the saying goes. but, one would have to be a real PoS themselves to try to sell that pc at that price. unfortuantely there's no law against being a total prick (well, not in this case anyway) :/

;) Why would over-pricing an item be a sellers fault? Just trying to make an extra buck or $550. It is a garage sale too afterall, you can like bargain and stuff. If it were BestBuy or something, bargaining won't get you anywhere.

The buyer should have an idea of what the usual cost of an item of that value is.

I think it may depend on just how badly the seller fleeced the buyer too. If its some extraordinary amount (such as $500 over what its worth) I would say the seller has some answering to do.

Thats a HUGE ripoff for 600 bucks. I built a 500 MHz, 128 meg, 20 gig hdd, 32 meg TNT2 for $130 to use a cs server.

I agree
With you
If the seller said
It was a super
Compter
Then I woul blame
The seller

If the buyer thought that computer was worth paying the money for, then he may not have been ripped off. He might only want it to browse the internet. Regardless of what its worth on the open market, you only pay what you believe something is worth.
