When you go to the store to buy groceries, what do you normally go for?

For example, I mainly make sure I have milk, bread, and eggs.

When you're shopping and browsing the aisles, what sort of things to you naturally migrate towards? Is it more expensive specialty brands, or generally the cheaper house brand?

Me... I have a limited budget so I normally pick up the cheaper items, unless I want the more expensive things. Olive Oil for instance, I buy online though since I know its not good to buy from a supermarket.

When my mum gets me to do the shopping I speed round and grab the cheapest offers I see when getting things off the list. I always go for the vegetables first because I have a subcocious fear that the good looking ones will go first. Then I generally do meat and fish because it can be tenderised by the stuff I put on top. Then I get all the tinned, bottled and generally cartoned food, including milk and butter and cheese etc. Then packaged foods. Then ready meals. So basically the further up the trolley you get the worse for you the food is.

I typically am a cheap shopper (except certain things, such as oreos) I'll get the cheap cereal, cheap pop tarts, etc. I usually make sure we have milk, coffee, and other essential things. I'm also a sucker for good (read: cheaper than 25% off) deals for stuff I like. If Chex Mix is on sale, forget about it. It's mine.

Pint of milk and a loaf of bread. The Earth stops spinning of neither are in stock.

Well aa... I buy for example: chocolate, chocolate, chips, milk, coke oh yeah and chocolate sugar free of course

As for the price, I tend to buy which ever thing I think is the best, I don't buy something because it's cheaper. If something is crap but is cheap, i won't buy it.

If bread is out of stock, there's hell to pay for whoever is responsible for stocking it that night.

I don't buy groceries. I have a mommy that still thinks I love her.

kidding!

My mom does most of the grocery shopping, but I help too:dozey:

Gro...cer...ies? Is that, like, a sit down restaurant instead of fast food?

What planet are you from?:P

My shopping: Do things as fast as you can, before you are contaminated with the virus that is shopping.

I usually buy all el chepo. I get the Cheap 1 gallon container of southwest salsa, the cheap pint of egg subsistute, the cheap cylinder of oatmeal, and all the generic fruits and vegetables I can handle. Oh yeah and sometimes I'll buy a whole turkey and cook it myself or else I'll bake my own bread.

Foods the one place where I don't really worry about cost. If it's a choice of putting good vitamins and nutrients and stuff in your body or toxins, I'll pay the extra not to get the phosphoric acid thank you. I usually check the ingredients, and if there's more than 2 or 3 chemically sounding things that I can't pronounce I won't get it. Fruits and vegetables are ridiculously cheap anyways, even if you buy the expensive kind. And flour is cheap. I pay extra on pasta and olive oil and bread. And I'll pay extra for the things that I like, like the good olives, or feta cheese, or better cuts of meat.

I have said before how I shop.

1) as many frozen pizzas as I can fit in my freezer (currently Fresheta magaritta and Digorno peperoni are my favorites

2) buffalo wing sauce and Tyson Chicken strips

3) new Chips a hoy soft chocolate chip cookies

4) Giant chocolate chip birthday cookie. :D

5) if Coke is on sale, I buy up to 10 cases of 12 packs

6) butter

7)Murray's or Steak-um steaks + rolls

8) frozen mac-n-cheese

9)2 boxes of coffee in the single serving tea bag style

10) baggels

11)frozen breakfast like eggs, bacon, hashbrowns in one tray - and I toast some bread and make bacon and egg on toast sandwiches.

12) American cheese and bread to make Grilled Cheese sandwiches

13)sometimes I buy sandwich meat, cheese, lettuce - I like to make submarine sandwiches occasionally and buy all the things you would find at Subway, like jalapeños and peppers

14) like 12 cans of soup (mostly in cold months)

I can tell you're a bachelor

my list is all basic food that needs to be cooked ..very little prepared food (it costs a heck of a lot more when feeding a family)

I spend on average about $120/week on groceries ($107 US)

2% Milk, bread, eggs, donuts, and I try not to look at anything else because then I end up buying a bunch of junk stuff.

yes, well technically 3.5 ...and sometimes we have to go mid week to pick up a few things

it's not cheap to feed a family ..I expect it to double in about 2-3 years

when my son was drinking formula (which only lasted awhile while weening him off the ...the other stuff) ..our grocery bill was closer to $150

lol! I hope not ...so long as he drinks quality stuff and isnt a conservative/religious I'm ok with anything he does

Cheap shopper, I usually buy things from the market rather than the supermarket if I can, because I'm trying to save up in the hope that I don't have to worry about costs as much in the future.

If I had a market around here, i'd buy from it. only supermarkets though.

I tend to go for the more expensive stuff. And I never stick to the list, there are always those few items that catch my eye (Few is between 10-20 lol).
And if they are out of my ice cream someone better look out because there is going to be a World War 3 in Food Lion!

Some guy called my friend's restaurant yesterday to put in an order to go... and he actually referred to it as "groceries."

That reminded me of "My diet is balanced and healthy because there's lettuce in my Big Mac" for some reason.

1. I usually shop once a day.
2. I usually shop the very cheapest foodstuffs.
3. I will always be in the line leading to the cute girl behind the cash-register, even if that line is significantly longer than other lines.
