What video card to buy?

I'am going to buy a new computer, and im debating what video card to get, The two it has come down to is either FX5900 128 meg or the 9800 pro 128 meg, I want the one that will give me best performance on the newer games such as Half-life 2 and doom 3. Could anyone give me some incite to what I should get?

EDIT1: or, you could look around a little bit and see for yourself...not to be rude, but doing your own research into this type of stuff is extremely valuable!

EDIT2: I was kidding about the 5900, btw...9800 pro is much much better for HL2 and any dx9 game

Do NOT get the FX5900. The Radeon 9800 Pro is the best card money can buy at the moment. Also it's much cheaper than the FX5900.

9800XT = comes with hl2, and slightly better than the 9800pro. (he never said money was a problem)

Although I'm no graphic card techie, I would HIGHLY recommend getting the 9800 PRO. Check out some of the latest HL2 benchmarks

I think it might be safe bet to go with ATI and the 9800... Then again, I perfer ATI more then Nvidia....

Just buy the 9600pro and you will be fine. It's the best value for money out there.

but if you can afford the 9800pro, and it sounds like he can, you should definitely go for it...biggest bang for your buck isn't always great...

If I could get a $1 card that got 1 fps with max detail, that would be the most fps per dollar out there, but not a good idea!

Yeah its cheap yet has all the effects and nice speed. Its like a Geforce 4 Ti4200 for the new era of games. Supposedly it is significantly overclockable due to the .13 process. Depends on memory and make and stuff to though. Ya... anyways since you seem to have the cash 9800XT is going to be the best thing out there in about a week+.

Well if you can afford a FX5900 you can afford pretty much any ATI card, all of them better than the 5900!

Yes but this isnt the case. Well 9600pro is 1/3 the price of an 9800pro and runs all current and near future games pretty good. When the next wave of cards comes out, then buy the new middle model for 1/3 the price of the top end. This way you have always the best tech available and have saved some money. There isnt really any reason why someone should go for a top end card unless they dont know what to do with their money (well you could give me some)

It depends on what you want. The radeon AIW's have TV tuners, a bunch of multimedia stuff. There is NO difference in the performance of the 9800 pro and 9800 pro AIW.

if money is not an issue.. then i would suggest u wait til HL2 is out, and get the 9800 -XT.. u will also get the game with it..

of course thats assuming u have the money.. since u were inquiring about the 9800 All in Wonder cards.. and they are more expensive then 9800 Pro's (i think...)
