notice how Doom was immidiatly forgotten , i mean the multiplayer is shit so noone wats to play it , the game gets boring too fast simply samething after the samething , too dark ! what a failure. doom3 is nowhere near hl2s league

but coop (coming soon i'm sure) should be sweet :) too bad id didn't develop a coop for the pc release.. it'd have netted them more users i suspect.
 
Is this topic really needed?

So you don't like the game. Others did. I really don't care if it isn't in "HL2's league", which I find funny since you haven't played HL2 yet.

Doom 3 is what it is. An above average FPS horror game.

It may be overshadowed. but its too soon to say itll be forgotten.
 
Doom 3's mp was very good. I liked it a lot. To bad a misagreement with cpl game wont be played :/ Whatever pk has good mp also.

Yeah, I uninstalled it a while ago... I liked the multiplayer, but after fuxing with my files a lot, it wouldn't let me play anymore, and it took them too long to release a patch sooooo... yeah... it's gone...
 
I uninstalled it. I kept hearing that the game was too easy so when I first installed and played Doom III, it was on the Veteran setting. Then I beat it in 2 weeks and I decided to play it on Normal for some reason, but I didn't feel like keeping Doom III. I still have the CD and I'm waiting for the mission pack. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within will hold me and keep me entertained.
 
I beat it, thought about returning it, asked people on this forum whether i should return it, got told to go f*ck myself for returning a game i had already beaten, traded it in for Beyond Good & Evil and Metroid Prime.

Beat Metroid Prime today, horribly overrated game
 
i installed it, and uninstalled it right away. i figured i'd just cut to the chase.
 
I got 3/4 way through the game to the first major boss battle. Where you fight that huge ass thing and have to hit the portal dealie above it. Anyway that lagged my comp so much I unistalled the damn thing.

Too dark?

Did you try changing your config file to fix it? I found it quite helpful.

I also disagree that it was a failure. I still currently play it and have been enjoying some of the high quality custom maps that are being made for it. I also think it has a better engine than HL2, but that's a purely personal preference of course.

Doom3's probably made 15x+ than you'll earn in your entire life, so does that make you a failure too? :rolleyes:
 
I completed the DooM 3, it wasn't too bad, just derivative gameplay (like all of id's games, like I've said before, all of id's game's are the same apart from graphical upgrades). Still, I enjoyed the original DooM's gameplay immensely so DooM 3 was right up my ally :).

I agree though, it was very dissapointing.

Yes, it was forgotten on an HL2 board which is no real surprise. Also, it was actually given it's own sub-forum so it wouldn't clutter up the Other Games Chat - http://www.halflife2.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=65, that's why you can't see any D3 threads.

metroid prime sucked.
it was boring as hell, i stopped playing halfway because it got so boring

After Hell it gets pretty boring.



I didn't really like Metroid Prime that much either.
 
I played Doom, I finished Doom, I uninstalled Doom :)

It wasn't bad, it wasn't great, it was average. The first two hours were brilliant, and I really do mean that. However eventually things began to just repeat themselves and it grew dull. By the end I was just tired of it. Hell was amazing as well btw, just far, far, far too short.

That was me that made that comment about Metroid Prime. I knew it wasn't an FPS but more of an action adventure game, but never in my life have i played a game that is just so god damn tedious.

There is NO reward in finishing the game WHAT-SO-EVER. Ever single enemy and boss is easy to beat, the story is more of an optional thing since you're not required to read it, you can just skip through them. I absolutely HATE the respawning enemies, and walking back and forth from the same environments over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again was so annoying, and the worst possible thing you can do in a game.
If you're going to have a game where that happens, AT LEAST try and make the player interested when they're going back and forth. I just fail to see how Gamespot gave it a 9.7 and puts it up there with games like Halo

Take System Shock 2 for example, there was tons of back-tracking in that game, and loads of respawning enemies, but the thing that made it so good and so much fun (not to mention ****ing scary) was the atmosphere. You could always hear things breathing and moving just around the corner, or SHODAN would always pipe up and say something, it kept you on the edge of your seat the entire time, it was and still is tons better then 99% of all the recent FPS games over the years.

the worlds just look so uuuuuh dead or something they dont really look interesting u know, and the enemies most of the time ur fighting some weird ass bugs.

and theres not really a story other then reading.

at first i thought the game looked ugly when i bought it, but i played it some more and i liked it, but halfway it got extremly boring for me.
 
I never beat Doom 3 it got too boring lol. I think I got stuck at this one part because I saved and didn't play for like a week and forgot what I was doing and felt that it wasn't worth my time to keep playing it. I just didn't like that game but it was fun for a little while :(.
 
Woh - proof that tastes really can differ tremendously.

I found Metroid to be lovely from start to finish. The experience was just so chilled and atmospheric.

Never was I frustrated at backtracking, nor did I get bored once. The feeling of exploring an alien world was captured perfectly imo.

Surely you liked the art direction and music at least?

Guess it's a love/hate type of game.
 
i still havent completed doom3... but i will soon. im just never in the "mood" to play it...

That how I was but I felt that I would never be in the mood so just uninstalled it lol.
 
I bought Doom 3 in hopes that it'd have more depth than its predecessors...however...the only added depth I found was a measly flashlight and a little cube. Everything else (to my recollection) they took out of Doom 1 or 2...along with the monster AI.

The first couple hours were good. I was playing...I'd jump and spray an entire machinegun clip into thin air thinking something was attacking me. When you looked into that mirror and it goes all red...that freaked me out. Monsters were cool to face at the start, because the disaster was just starting...you were just getting the hang of all the weapons and how everything worked....I was liking it.

Fast forward to 4 hours later...hmmm...starting to get annoyed...all that impresses me anymore is the graphics. I've gotten only a couple new weapons...and seen like 4 new monsters. The AI wasn't just lame in the beginning where we fought stereotypical slow/brainless zombies...it's still lame. I dunno about this.

Fast forward another couple hours. Ok...the "scares" are just lame now. I'm packing so much heat I could arm a whole platoon...one zombie/monster/winged baby/eyeballthing/abnormally sized dog thing popping out at me isn't gonna do much. *BLAM* with the weapon of choice for killing EVERYTHING in the game...the shotgun. Reload...move on. Whee.

Fast forward another couple hours. Ok...now the realization is setting in...I'm getting angry. This game isn't getting any better...and I spent $55 on it. I start picking out scares before they happen...and just lob one of my 50 grenades at the corner the retarded but cosmetically pleasing monster is going to attack me from. *BOOM* The monster flies out and I watch him/her/it de-materialize er whatever you call that and witness the only thing about the game I still like...that one effect. Moving on to the next crappily lit, half destroyed metallic space station corridor...wahoo.

Fast forward to the end.
This is where I was hoping I'd have a cool fight. I was hoping the last boss would not only be hard...but I was hoping he'd be monstrous and fun to fight...*BEEEP* WRONG! This one is easy to figure out. Hmm..shooting him does nothing...guess what children...bust out that silly soulcube and start killing random monsters and avoid the main enemy! After 3-6 tosses of the soulcube (I forgot..it's been a while)...he goes down...

Hooray...mankind is safe again I guess. Thanks to me...the marine guy.

And man, I thought that Metroid was one of those games that EVERYONE liked because it was just so incredible. Apparently some people still just don't get it.
