There are several signs, and things to note about the recent release of the Liandri Conflicts. Although I have never played it myself, I've been to the site and noticed a few similarities.

Weapons?
If you don't mind going over to the below sites (the liandriconflict and the gametrailers review), and look at the weapons loadout. you will notice that there are definately two weapon designs that will be carried over

http://www.liandriconflict.com/
http://gametrailers.com/vidreviews.php

These are the Flak Cannon and the Rocket Launcher. The screens to support this statement are below, which you may compare.

Rocket Launcher
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/unrealtournament2007/screens.html?page=3

Flak Cannon
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/unrealtournament2007/screens.html?page=1

Now if these two will definately be carried over, then several others may join:
Ripper- Seen in the original Unreal Tournament but never made it in to 2003 or 2004
Race Specific Weapons- Seen in Liandri Conflict but not in the UT games (Dual Enforcers Making a Comeback)
Grenade Launcher- Used in both UT2004 and LC
Stinger- Used in LC and may replace the Minigun

Race Specific Weapons and Vehicles?
I mentioned Race Specific Weapons that is used in LC, and this reminded me of a recent article. In Conquest mode (the new mode in UT2007) when you take over an area, the buildings in that vicinity change to match your races' style of architecture. If you tie that in with 1-on-1 with the specific weapons of LC, then it looks like Epic wants to create a more varied theme and this concept might be carried over to the vehicles (The Scorpian Fast Reconaissance Vehicle looks drastically different)

Melee Combat?

Although there will be a conquest mode, there might also be a mode for those who want to get down and dirty (part of Deathmatch possibly). There is a wide variety of melee weapons in LC, and fans of UT might get a nice surprise.

StoryMode
Its sounds a bit stupid I know. The idea came in to my head when I hear Epic are going to make the single player a bit more personal. Think about it, you fight inside the tournament, but your able to explore outside the ring as well (think futuristic westling tournaments), and punch somebody in the gob :O

Now that I've wapped up, if there anything that you would like to add to the discussion? Perhaps something that you would like to see in UT2007? Or if theres something that I've missed (links will be a major help to keeping this thread alive)

Thank you for that, marvellous :|

Is the Unreal Universe tied in with Mortal Kombat, because I noticed that Raiden is a playable character (and its on the characters playing list on LC site)

I just can't wait to hear Malcolm as a commentator :D

"I pity da fool who jus had da chest explode!"

The maps will come in super size. Plus The best facial and eye animations ever.

I reckon there should be a different name for the game. Unreal Tournament 2007 sounds boring and slightly repetitive (i.e UT, UT2003, UT4004, etc, etc).

List of possibles

Total Unreal
Liandri Championships
Unreal: RAW (Really Awesome Weapons) :)
Unreal: WWF (Women with Weapons Federation)

okay, so I wasn't being serious, but I still do think they need to change the name, something more catchy

I wonder if there will be any guest appearances from someone or something famous

I'm actually envyous that the Ripper made it into LC but not UT2004, thats why I'm hoping its in 2007, I might have to remind people that the original post is speculative, tied with some truth

Cliff Bleszinski of Epic stated in the forums that the ripper would make a return, but he couldn't be any more specific.

Ohhhh I've just realised what the ripper is - it's the saw blade launcher isn't it?

Should make for some gruesome killings, and with UE3's graphics :x

-It will be better than the experience of giving birth

Meh, looks like a crappy unoriginal remake to me. Albeit with good graphics.

So much Ut2007. Cant get enough of it. Needs some INGAME VIDS!!! ERRR UGH!!!

Unreal Tournament 2007 will be at E3 this year at the Midway booth so expect lots of in-game videos or atlease a trailer of in-game graphics. The graphics sure do help bring the Unreal franchise to life and from all the stuff I read they are heavily working on the gameplay as well and they have a LOT of stuff planned for this game.

Read about the new gameplay mode, ( codenamed ) conquest, and then write a ten page essay on how you've changed your mind :D

The enforcers, or a variant of them, are making a comeback. This is good, since they were pretty decent starting weapons - much better than the crappy assault rifle from 03/04.

I think so too, the weapons as a whole look more visually impressive. So do the maps, which is the reason I want to see a remake of the Assualt level with the space battle (star wars EpIII style closeup carnage)

Im cunfused. Does this game use the latest Unreal 3 engine?

WHAT, DAMN, isnt the Unreal 3 engine for Computers??? :( Aww man, i will never get to taste it then....i thought it was for computers! I thought it was the next step in Graphic for PC! .....well, looks like Source will still be the king of pc. But now i just feel terrible, i thought i would see 10 different games with this engine. Like Quake 5 Arena (quake 4 is under construction) Tiberian Sun-FPS, Battlefield 3, etc etc etc. But now, that engine is in the hands of those GOD DAMNED X-BOX ****ERS. I hate it, you cant aim with X-box, it takes 20 minutes just to aim at a certain point, either is the controles to sesitive so when you try to aim, the Crooshair goes by the target, then you spend 5 minutes trying to bring it back! IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY.

How are you supposed to Run, Aim, Control, shot, change weapons, change other skills, jump, crouch, EVERYTHING, at the same time with those X-BOX CONTROLS???? ITS INSANE!!!!!!! I need 2 hands just to aim straigth!

I have never liked concoles, and i never will be. Well, i have nothing against it, EXEPT THE CONTROLS. WHY cant they create a Keyboard and a mouse for it? WHY, WHY, WHY, is it so hard?

From now on, i will boycott every game released from....from...whatever the creators of Unreal 3 engine is! I will burn every Concole i see, every concol verison of a game i see (including HL2) from now on, I AM AN ANTI-CONSOLE DEVIL.........WHO WANTS SOME!?!?!!??!

Do you actually read anything?

UE3 is a multi-platform engine - PC, Xbox 360, PS3

so does that mean your game is not necessarily for pc only? oh and since so many companies have announced their licensing of U3 ..will you guys do the same :E

....just fishing for info here

If they can make a PS3 variant, I heard that programming is different with the PS3 cell processor

I hears that Unreal Engine will be incorporated fro next-gen console too. And from the specs I read, its possible that the USB slots on Xbox360 may be able to use official microsoft mouse/keyboard (hoping) from PC's, or at least make a variant for the Xbox360

-According to people on the Xbox forums, the 360 version is going to look waayyyy better. :| I hate fanboys.

I always found that a bit weird, considering Cliffy himself said "The Ripper won't return - it sucked" or words to that effect prior to UT2003's launch. Frankly, i'm inclined to agree: it did suck. Very hard to get kills with in one sense (ie. trying to use skill to kill people) but far too easy to get kills in the other sense (ie. Skill-less spam whoring).

I agree and disagree. The nerfing of the starter weapon was done on much the same logic as Bungie changing the pistol to the machine gun in the Halo games: Enforces were overpowered. 4 Headshots = Death is a little too powerful for the gun that everyone starts with (considering how it generally takes a long time to kill enemies with any weapon in the UT games). I hope they find a happy medium between the overpowered / overaccurate Enforces and the Spud Guns from UT2.

The Necris will be making a comeback, which means that Brock (He died if you haven't realised) and Lauren (Brocks Bitch) will be returning

but I noticed that they are heading up the old team, Iron Guard
lol... Epic make a lame attempt to add some kind of character to the abysmal single player experience again... then appear to go back on it anyway. I suppose UT3 is before UC2 or something. Never understood the fuss about the Necris anyway. I'm still waiting for them to bring back the goddamned Nali... I hope that the majority of the UT2K3 models don't make it back. They were all cartoony crap and it was a major step down aesthetically for the series.

PC only would be a bit daft, if it only takes a (relatively) trivial amount of work to get the console ports done.

I thought that Console ports were going to get harder with the whole "programming for four different cours" thing? Anyway, even so you're right. PC is a small market and the consoles are on a very similar level in terms of raw power in the tech... As i'm a poor student from hereon out, I may well be forced to get the console versions.

Also, if they're making console versions, perhaps they'll allow PC gamers to take on Console gamers? (and once and for all prove that Mouse and Keyboard rules supreme!)

I suggest you have another good look at Malcolm, now imagine the scale of art they'll put on the other characters (if they indeed come back)

Although I like the first games, I was not a fan. I really enjoy having to reload weapons, this also adds a more tense moment, where you have to find cover to reload safely.

That's Epic's problem, really. If they supply the engine ports as part of the licence, then the licensee shouldn't have to do too much to make it work on the consoles.

so this is definately a AAA title? so ...an educated guess: you're shooting for late 2006 early 2007 release?

Malcolm is a UT original design though. The ridiculous designs of UT2003 had an inconsistant and ugly style - more detail doesn't mean better models in this case, because Malcolm is a design built on a model that didn't fundamentally suck one.

Are you talking about the juggernaut models, because they reminded me of space marines

The male juggernauts weren't so bad. The Female Juggernauts looked like pregnant women in Metalic overalls. It's the other models that really were crap and a total sidestep from the kind of thing UT99 established: Space Clowns, Garish Egyptians, Anorexic Generic Mercenaries, and some completely ugly random alien race that had no bearing on Unreal's (limited) universe. It was a real culture shock because only three "characters" from the entire of the original game were retained: Malcolm, Brock and Lauren, all of which were just reskins of the pointlessly thin Mercenary models. It was like all the characters had come in fancy dress and Epic had had a field day pinching Sci-Fi cliches left right and centre (e.g. Egyptians from Stargate, Mokara are Gungans and Dark Legion were just randomly dropped in after someone played "Kiss: Psycho Circus" and got thier creative ability momentarily obliterated.).
