Now that the official contents are out, I have changed my mind from the CE to the gold steam version. So many goodies! Go valve!

edit: does it make sense to anyone that the CE doesn't have nearly as much content as the Steam Gold package? that just seems messed up to me..
 
i saw it on the news page, i thought it would be solid... :O

and yes it looks like valve is outdoing vivendi for goodies. i love soundracks, so when i read that, i had to have gold.
 
I dont care for HL2 stickers. Just give me the game. Standard edition for me.
 
:dozey: Damn... I am gonna end up paying loads of cash just for this game we're obsessed with! Since I am anal, i'm gonna get CE, might have to end up buying DoD: Source, and then buy the Half Life 2 book. Hmm I am estimated like $90 total, wow!

The CE sounds like a rip off.. the gold package on Steam however, mmm.. sounds nice
 
I voted for the Retail SE but it really depends on price. 6 cds? I would much rather have 1 DVD ... I want to play the game not juggle.

naw, I pay for my games.. even though that pisses me off to the point of actually doing it.

I see it this way... I paid for Doom3 and Farcry.. both were ok once through, but had no replay value (and both had shit MP play) so how much worse could HL2 be?
might as well blow cash on it too.

No, it makes sense, well at least for Gabe and company.

If they wanted CE buyers to have DoD:S, they could have included in the box a voucher, a CD-key, or $5-off coupon, or something.

Everyone has asked the question "Why should I buy it from Steam?" This is the answer.

I think it's clear the Steam packages are designed to compete with Vivendi's boxed ones.
 
I wouldn't say everything....hl2.php was fun...good info last day or so...and now this wondrous news....seems non-bullshitty to me..goin gold!!!

Steam/Gold. Get tons of games and tons of nick-nacks too. Unless the price is ridiculous.
 
I hope Valve gets hacked again and HL2 is delayed by a year. That ought to teach them.
 
Aint buying nothing, the $5 I spent on the ATI voucher is enough.

I had always planned to buy via Steam, but now I'm certain I'll go for the Gold package. That's a seriously kickass bundle of goodies, and I'm gonna save a lot of money that way, in the long run. Ever since I watched the first E3 2k3 vids, I've been dying to get my hands on the soundtrack. And of course, gotta have HL:S and the hat :D

Now that I know exactly what I'm planning to buy, the suspense is getting even harder to bear. Come on, gold!

Silver. I want all the Source games, and nothing that I can't put into my computer.
 
I'm going CE all the way! Valve forcing VU's hand by relapsing CS:S should get VU of there collective asses and declare gold do they not lose to many sales to steam. I hope this means we will all be playing HL2 very soon whether we go steam or not.
 
Whatever is the cheapest. I don't care if it is Steam or Retail.

I definetely don't need all that bonus crap. Since we know CS:S is the multiplayer, I wish they just had a HL2 option.
