The idea was brought about tonight when i was talking to a friend about reincarnation. Long story, but it basically boils down to, if you died tonight, and were given the chance to come back with essentially a wish, what would you choose?

With little to no hesitation i responded with, living for a limited eternity. Which basically means i live until i decide it's time for me to die, maybe Ill click my heels three times or something to initiate death. It sounded pretty cool to me, especially with what i know now, you could be in all the right spots at the right time, all the people to meet, places to see, languages and information to take in. But i could see how it could become boring and/or lonely, and of course you couldn't make any sort of spectacle that would draw attention to yourself. That's how witches get tossed in the river wearing cement shoes.

My friend said it would be cool to be able to understand and fluently speak every language ever created. I thought every language EVER created was a bit much, but why not, whatever right?

Is this a, like, "what would your superpower be?" kind of thread? Well, I dig.

I would go for probably the same thing as you. I think I would like to live as long as I thought there was something in this universe to discover. As soon as I though that humanity believed that it reached it's limit though, I would probably lose hope and feel tempted to blow it. But maybe by then I would have something that I could discover for myself.

I'd become a space pirate ..failing that I'd invest heavily in real estate

Ooh, real estate is a good biz to get into these days. Piracy too never goes out of style.

So in this scenario, we are born again knowing what we know now, and we get a bonus wish? I've always wanted a magic wallet. It would have the following powers: it could never get lost and it would always have whatever currency I wanted at any given time. Thus began the longest, most successful vacation in human history!

Hmm, I would wish for peace and happiness thoughout the universe.

Or Moon Ponies.

There's more then 40,000 languages in use by humans in modern times.

Infinate wishes.

But in reality...the language thing would open up so many opportunities for you. You could join the government, and probably be a spy, or recon, or something. That would be awesome. Awesome like Goatse, and I love my Goatse.

i would choose to be able to make my mind travel outside my body, (or become an outer "eye") to gain knowledge and stuff. alternatively i´d relive my life, but not knowing the unhappiness or failure i´ve experienced.

I'd wish that i wasn't born with a bone disease and that i'd return to the same life at the same point in time without it.

I would want to be reincarnated, but not remember my past lives. When i died however, I would want to remember all past lives, untill i decided upon a new life to live.
This way life would never get boring and you would live forever, you would keep on experience the same things but they would seem like new experiences.

Yeah, the living for eternity would be my choice.

You could become an expert in every field possible, join the government, work up through the ranks, fix whats wrong with the world, then go and do some brain surgery or something.

I would wish for nothing more than to be reborn with my current knowledge, no more crappy test scores for me :D
