Whatever happened to the SDK?

It was supposedly to be released before HL2, but obviously those plans have been abandoned. The Steam packagews don't even mention it.

Also, it hasn't been mentioned by anyone in the gold announcement, or HomeLAN interview.

Personally, the most important part of HL2 release is the SDK, qand I sure hope they don't release it afterwords and with numerous delays: hundreds of mods are awaiting with bated breath.

Anyone got some news about it?
 
According to an interview (see hl2.net front page for link) the SDK is done and is currently being tested by several mod teams before it is released to the general public.
 
probably the release date, or just before it.

HL2 will need mods and valve know that more than anybody.
 
"Doug Lombardi - Now that development on the game is done, several engineers are working on the first version of the Source SDK. I don't have an exact release timeframe to share right now, but we hope to have that first version available very soon."
