whats a good card to get to get my computer running half life 2 on high

but it's all up to how much money u want to spend.

gf4 ti should run it fine. I'm on gf4 mx and it's extremely... bearable :E

Edit - But to answer your question, 9600 pro/xt is a nice card for a reasonable price, and should run HL2 very well (not top of the range though).

If you can affort it, get a radeon 9800 pro or better yet the XT version. It should run the game smoothly.
