Try and get a Sennheiser headset as they are a lot more robust and longer lasting:-

Anything that is'nt too expensive. $50 should be the max for a great headset. Also I prefer USB because it's digital so you avoid all the scratching sounds that a cheap headset has.

I have a Creative HS-600 and I am quite happy with it. Great sound, adjustable mic boom and ear-covering speakers. The only downside to it is that it looks quite plastic-y, but that has no repercussions on its performance.

The Siberia ones do. I actually prefer the clipped on mic to the attached. It's a great headset.
