Assuming HL2 is every bit as good as we all expect it to be, what does everyone predict will happen to our current multiplayer favorites. Looking at how huge the CS and DoD communities are, I'm sure there'll be the few who stick with the originals or have a hard time liking the new versions, but I have a hard time thinking that they'll just fizzle out quickly.

The source conversions really make things interesting though. Will it really be worth it anymore to boot up the originals, let alone even keep them on our computers?

Thoughts?

I think a mass movement will start as soon as Counter Strike: Source comes out. Those who stay behind either won't have computers good enough to play it or just wanna stay behind. Where as when HL2 comes out I don't think you'll see that large of a movement from the CS or DoD communities, because most of the people who play those mods could care less about HL. They'll be waiting for CS:S and DoD:S so they'll probably be sticking around for a bit.

I probably will stay playing the mods for HL until the mods in HL2 start coming out. Once there are enough mods I probably won't play HL's mods again. I might play through HL singleplayer every now and then though.

the source conversions are planned on being released at the same time the retail version of HL2 is released, which is what i was implying in my post.

heck, will it even be worth playing the single player of HL1 considering the HL:source release that's also planned on simultaneously being available with HL2?
