Whats the best defense against mosquitos?

Eevery goddam year, in teh summer, when at nigh I really need to open my window to cool my room down, and I really need to. A lot of them com in and bute me, i eman I can somethimes stay up untill 5 am, just becasue i can't sleep because of all the scrathien and hunting them down. they bite me where ever I ****ing go, and ****ing sprays don't ****ing work, they hurt me more then them. So is there anything that works, like maybe those blue lamps, do they work.
What works goddamit, HEEEELLLLP!!!!!!
 
I hardly ever get bitten no matter how much I leave my windows open, AAAAHAHAHAHAHA :smoking: Weird, because a friend who lives a couple of miles away from me suffers the same problem as you.

I get bluebottles and moths come to my room instead. They make 10x the noise of mosquitos and are just as annoying even if they don't bite.

Defence strategies, eh, let's see...Have you tried making your best scary face at them? What about net curtains...?
 
A bug zapper, or a deoderant can and a lighter, flame thrower!


(don't do the last one.)
 
Close the window and turn up the AC. Then don't open any windows. Close blinds on sun side of the house. Doesn't actually cost that much once you've got the temp down, it's just maintaining the cool that has to be done then. Don't keep doors open, etc etc...
 
I also hate mosquitios!.. i feel the same way as you Grey Fox.. :S

Hate those bastards!

What the? What do you do when it gets way hot?

I don't know if I've ever met someone who lives in a home who doesn't have an AC :X
 
Mosquitoes suck. I hate them.
I've been bitten so many times. At least I'm in Canada. The ones in Canada aren't as bad as the ones in Africa.
 
Find a way to stop breathing... and make your body completely dry and icy cold. Then... you will be mosquito free!

When humans or animals breath out they produce CO2, and their bodies are constantly giving off heat and moisture. Mosquitos and other biting insects have the ability to detect CO2, heat and moisture from long distances and are immediately attracted to the source. Mosquitos are also attracted to trace amounts of alcohol vapor as well as dark colors, especially black. The mosquitos fly around and search using their sensors for a warm body to start biting.

I've no idea if there's any truth to this, but I've heard that if you consume a lot of food rich in vitamin B (the kind that turns your urine quite yellow) and you sweat a bit, they'll not like that. Seriously, though, invest in a screen.

I don't own air conditioning, but I live in the mountains of California so the weather is quite nice.
 
DDT is fine, when used in small quantities.

avoid eatting bananas, moquito's are some how attracted to people who eat bananas
 
but if you happen to really love banana's, then get that tesla coil fired up, SUPA BUG ZAPPA 2000!!!
 
why not hav a mosquito eater animal in your bedroom?
 
and what about buy a fan and turning it on on that hot nights you mention?

Wearing a big black sheet over your head that goes all the way to the ground with eye holes and a mouth hole that is covered by mesh. If anyone says anything, you just say it is a religious dress.

Mosquito's are attracted to dark, black colors. Wear a white sheet instead.

I say just catch your house on fire while you sleep. Mesquitos HATE smoke.
 
Thx, really ****ing helpful, and for the people with serious suggestions, unfortunatly I have a window that that you can't put a screen on.

btw, just get bug spray. DDT works great too, but you must use in small quantities.

I wasn't kidding..they hate smoke... \=

Why not get a few of those "anti mesquito" candles and put em around your window, throughout your room....

sheesh, some people can't see the real meanings \=

Why cant you put a screen over your window? Just hang it completely over the entire hole in the wall.
