Seriously, what is with it? Do people only think that fox represents NEWS? News is a small portion of FOX. I don't watch FOX news, it is probably biased like most news sites.

But people seem to forget that FOX has spawned so many amazing and great shows, Like Simpsons, Mad TV, Futurama, Family Guy, Married with Children. The list goes on, so much quality comedy. Sure, there's some stupid stuff too, but they all have their own share. Fox has spawned more 'hits' than misses in my opinion.

I mean, what other stations out there host shows, and allow them to make FUN of that station? Fox is the only one I know of. Simpsons, Futurama, Family guy, Mad TV. These shows are riddled with good natured jabs against FOX, and they are only bettered from it. I find the FOX bashing hilarious, and the creative ways they do it.

I will still always view FOX as a great station, not for its NEWS, but for its most notable comedies and other shows.

Well this is the political forum, not the movies forum,
Also, the world doesn't care what "shows" fox provides for local viewers ..

Umm, gee, hey buddy. You ever watch TV? Many of the shows that fox provides are smash hits worldwide, not just locally. Simpsons, Futurama, Family guy.

This is probably best in the TV part of the forum, but it is sort of political in nature.

I've never railed on FOX itself, but only Fox News.

But even then, I don't care for FOX in general. **** Married With Children. **** Mad TV. I can catch Futurama and Family Guy (along with a bunch of other good shows) on Adult Swim.

Hell, they canned Family Guy. It's hard for me to respect them.

alright, maybe I'm wrong on the first point, I don't watch TV (I mainly watch news and political stuff, and very very few shows), but still the Fox News is just so extremely .. you know what I mean.

Well, yes, you can watch those two shows on adult swim now... but they had their birth on FOX. =P

I've never heard anyone saying that FOX is bad...just Fox News.

I'm sorry...but I'm afraid they made the right choice there. I mean, I'm sure we all find Family Guy hilarious...but there are quite a few demographics out there who don't. It just ain't suited for network TV.

BAH! Those people should be strapped to chairs and forced to watch Family Guy, Clockwork Orange style. They should be kept that way until they find the sweet funny goodness of it, upon which they can leave.

Well then they dont have to watch it.. why should everyone else miss out?

Whenever I say fox is bad I actually mean fox news, it's enertainment channels are A+.

I think you'd have to be pretty sensitive to be offended by Family Guy. I mean, there are even french fan communities out there for Family Guy, and they never resist the urge to make fun of the french in it.

And the great thing about family guy is... they make fun of EVERYBODY. That's why nobody should be offended, in my opinion.

Fox is not the same thing as Fox News. Fox News is owned by News Corp, a highly republican organization. Fox News is a 24 hour cable channel that many believe (including me) is simply a republican spin machine.

Because if 80% of fox's viewership does not want to watch a particular show, it's kind of stupid (not to mention unprofitable) for them to keep it on the air, now isn't it?

I never said it offended them, simply that they didn't find it funny. People have different senses of humor, and not all people find Family Guy's insane irreverence (spelling?) entertaining.

Out of the blue, silly and random humor is the best kind.

Newscorp (Fox News) sued Fox awhile back because The Simpsons made fun of Fox News. Yes, it went over as well as the Franken suit. Now The Simpsons throws a jab or two at Newscorp in every episode. Marginally relevant but very funny.

Actually, this may not have so much to do with people not finding it humorous, but because Fox thought the show was too controversial and were always changing the show's time slots. The show was either bumped around unpredictably or aired during times when far less viewers were watching.

Offtopic but I loved the episode where fox news rolls in to springfeild with a Bush/Cheney banner playing we are the champions :E

Family guy is coming back in 2005, and Macfarlane is making a new series on fox coming out in january, "American dad" or somesuch

(family guy is coming back because of record amounts of dvds sold)

He's also asking us all to do our part and combat the far (religious wingnut) right wing facism that is trying to censor TV.

A good example is that the FCC this year has had a record 250,000 complaints files, up from just 300 two years ago. Funny thing is 99.8% were filed thru one group (http://www.parentstv.org/). Thats a little farkin redicoulous!

seth has this to say:

To Everyone:

The FCC has called an emergency session to discuss the recent ‘Desperate Housewives’ promo on Monday Night Football and decide if fines should be levied. They have received 500 complaints and feel this is enough to warrant this meeting. So, if you had no problem with the promo, please call the FCC at 1-888-225-5322 and let them know just that.

There is no menu option to leave a message supporting something that aired, so you’ll have to dial “0” for an operator. The wait isn’t long. Just tell the operator you had no problem with the promo and he or she will personally type up your comment. The operator will most likely be confused that you want to leave a positive comment, so be prepared for that.

Most importantly, be polite to the operators. They are not the ones making these decisions and you want them to take your comments seriously and report them.

Some people here have come upon resistance from the operators, being told they can’t file a comment unless an FCC meeting is in progress. If an operator says this, call back and try to get another operator. If you encounter the same problem, send an e-mail to:

Chairman Michael K. Powell: [email protected]
Commissioner Kathleen Q. Abernathy: [email protected]
Commissioner Michael J. Copps: [email protected]
Commissioner Kevin J. Martin: [email protected]
Commissioner Jonathan S. Adelstein: [email protected]

Again, we want our thoughts taken seriously, so don’t send a thousand e-mails.

Unfortunately, we’ve come upon a time where we have to actively protect the programming we love. People who have a problem always complain and those of us who don’t never say a word. With the FCC’s recent actions and attitudes, it’s vital to let the FCC know that not all of us are so easily offended. We need to maintain balance in broadcast television and this country.

Thank you,

The ‘Family Guy’ Staff

i say we help the brother out

I don't think you can really classify shows such as Family guy and the people who are for it and those who oppose it under political parties.

There are tons of people who love the show, both conservative and liberals alike(I'm a conservative, a huge fan of the show), and those who can't stand the thing, both conservative and liberal.

I mean, its just a god damn show, it has no political affiliation, as it makes fun of everything.

Make it a pen (or printer ink) & paper letter. They are more effective. If you really want to be heard you make a phone call or, better still, go in person. Basically, the more effort it takes the more response it gets. Being a registered voter (especially if you have a history of voting) also helps.

But it does have political affiliation. Many conservatives think shows like it ruin this country and they are doing everything to try and stop it, they were the real reason why it was dumped from the air.

While that may be true to some extent, I still think its rediculous. Its easy to believe that there are also lots of liberals out there who don't like the show either.

But, I don't really give a shit, my entire family is conservative, my dad, my brother, my uncle, aunt. We all live in texas, and we all love Family guy. Heh.

k can we please go back to fox and it's suckery?

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying all conservatives are like that. You have to understand though that the FCC for example is not anywhere near a liberal organization, it is highly conservative. Now that Bush got reelected this country is ran based on 'moral values' and I wouldn't be suprised if more attacks on shows like the family guy continue to happen. And when I say attacks I don't mean if you like the show or not, by attacks I mean they want to remove the show, and all like it, off the air and replace it with family friendly programming. I don't think anyone here would be ok with that and that is why I think some of you 'conservatives' really need to get educated about what conservatives in power really believe and what they really want.

ya it's like those family-affirmation shows like Seven heaven or Eight is enough ..sickly sweet reality bending morality preaching ..I prefer David and Goliath (religious claymation show) at least there was no mistaking it's wholesomeness and godliness ...god I feel dirty, I need a shower
