Thailand for me. I've been there a couple of times now. The country is beautiful, the local food is the best on the planet (my fav dish is Massaman Curry), and the people are very friendly.

The capital, Bangkok, is a crazy place. It's a bit like an American city, but with a distinct Asian flavour to it. The sights are pretty, but the nightlife is even better.

Esp. in the south there are beautiful islands to discover. Some are touristy and crowdy, others are still unspoiled. I'm not so keen on the north, but that's because I'm very much into the beachlife.

My fav spot would be Ko Chang, an island near the Cambodian border. The first time I was there in '99 there wasn't any electricity, ATM's, telephones or whatever so it was like this little paradise. When I was there last november tourism had picked up, but still fairly low key (for Thai standards).

So ..... what's your favorite foreign country?

For now, I would say Switzerland. The Alps, cool people, the food is delicious, etc.

The UK. Never been there, but always would like to visit.

Iceland, I don't know why but i've always wanted to live there.
I like cold places, and also it would be amazing to bathe in one of those geothermal bath things.

The US, holidayed there last year in Florida, lovely people, bend over backwardness friendliness.

We loved it.

You got them right, except I didn't mean Austria. :)

Austria is nice. The ski'ing is pretty good and the apres-ski is even better.

I've got enough skiing around here. :)

Hmm, I like Germany because I was born there. Can't remember it though, so it could be awful for all I know.

EDIT: Or Scotland.

British C.
Now watch that just confuse you more. :p

I thought I would be able to confuse you into thinking I lived in the UK.
Yeah, I live in British Columbia, Canada, rated best skiing in North America.

the Netherlands are helemaal toppie :afro: :smoking:

I really love China. I lived there for a year and a half.

Sure, there are loads of people trying to rip tourists off. But there are also genuinely warm and friendly people who are just happy to meet a stranger.

add in the fact I'm a white guy who speaks Chinese and they are even friendlier. It's amazing how special you can make someone feel when you make a bit of an effort to learn about their culture.

The scenery and history are absolutely amazing. From obvious favourites like the Forbidden City and Great Wall to the Tibetan Plateau and Taklamakan Desert - I've been over most of the places. See some of my pics here

And don't get me started on the food :D

I'm xenophobic...but at least I'm an equalitarian and hate all foreign countries equally.

New Zealand is prettty original guys! I'd never say Australia but, Germany or France would be up there for me.

China right now, It's totally different to what you were expecting the first time you go.

It's always so lively, it never gets boring, and the food is generally great.
The country is very varied when you go from North to South or East to West, and there's a lot of culture, going back thousands of years.
In street markets you have to haggle for your illegally copied designer clothes

And it's amazing to see the scale of development and progress everytime you go back.

My favourite place was called Lijiang, it is in Yunnan (outer Tibet), it has a lot of Tibetan culture, and it is such a nice place.

I have also been to Xi'an (spent most of time there), Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming and over to Hong Kong too.

I'm going back in the summer if I manage to get a job sorted out for after the summer.

I also like Australia and NZ, even though I've never been there. Perhaps the next summer...But that means it's pretty cold there, doesn't it?

Our summer is their winter.

New-Zealand. I've never been there, but the landscapes are incredible. I hope someday I'll get to visit New-Zealand

Hungary, but more specifically Budapest. Been there twice, staying with a friend.

So much better architecture (SP?) than the UK, plus all the women are VERY hot, and not stuck up, like *most* fit woment in the UK are.
Plus everything 's amazingly cheap, e.g. 50p for a pint!!
