I usually usw JPG, but prefer PNG and TGA.

jpeg for web pictures (And my camera), Tiff for images that I don't want to lose any quality, gif for animations and less than or equal to 256 colors. BMP for screenshots.

Depends on the image.

Photos with lots of different colour and complexity has to be jpeg (compressed at 15)
Images with lots of plain colour (not much complexity) = PNG (lossless)
Small web graphics = GIF
For things needing alpha channels I use either Targas (TGA) or BMPs.
I don't really use any other image file format, these cover pretty much everything.

Isn't that kinda pointless? PNGs are essentially the same as BMPs except a smaller filesize. I don't think they lose any image quality.

png's are the best they retain a transparent background, less quality loss.

Think of a PNG as a zipped BMP (same effect) - the more complexity on the image, the less it compresses. Lossless though.

png's fo sho, depending on what it is, if it's huge then it's gunna be a jpg but for those extra special ones its png
