I reckon it's here @
Steam Install Directory\config\ - in this folder there is a file called
userdata_xxxxxx.vdf

If the xxxxxx represents your Steam ID then mine is - 10627.

Anyone else concur or would like to share their ID?

tHE One with the "666" get's it..

P.s :probably all of you with Pc specs signatures are going to put that in there too huh?

By following the method in you post my Steam Id is 4304.

8308
..
Tek, if you had signed up 1 minute sooner you could have had 1337 steamid :p

I dont have that file:(:(

I have figured out, my STEAM crashes everytime i click on "games"

I have yet to play a game on steam , i cant even start a local game. :\

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe you are all checking it the wrong way.

This is the way to check it:

Join a server (CS, DoD, whatever)
Bring down the console (hit the ~ key)
Type in "status"

Next to your name, you'll see "Steam_0_0: XXXXXX"

Or something close to that. The XXXXX is your steamID

Since we cant join why dont you do it and verrify if its the same # as in the method above? thanks

I cant even start regular HL... Maybe like tomorrow or the day after that, when Steam is done downloading DoD, I might join game. If that starts that is. I'm hoping to get 66,666 :)

Chill man i didnt get any crash yet (cuz im d/ling all content now) and the speed is average .. i saw in the steam status some servers have crashed. give it a day or 2 till things gets cooler.

2144 not that bad

ps. last night (European time) was just great, the new movie thread was so impressive

thank you ppl for some great time

They're not the same id, you have to run HL, or a mod to find the correct id#

Mines 2797.

EDIT: Yours may be the same in the file though, because i installed it twice.

I can't verify just yet, as I'm reinstalling HL + steam etc. But I did get it up and running this arvo and my 'proper' (doing it my way) steamID was 1781.

This way for sure gives the correct value...we just need to verify if the way listed at the start of the post gives the same one. I should be able to check it out very soon.

i tried running the smallest download (which is ricochet) and it won't launch, but my comp at work is not up to the requirements

I've tried HL and TFC, both work fine (i don't have CS *shock*). Downloaded various updates first though, which took a while.

What's the problem?

their server seem to be heavily overloaded

i can't even update the dedicated server

it sits @ verifying resources or validating game and then conection timed out.

hmmm, that never took more than 30secs when i did it. Do you have a firewall or anything like that?

what's your location?
i guess they don't have enough servers here, in europe

no firewall , even before it went full ive had problems trying to connect to games. my specs are good and got dsl so i dont know what the problem is.

i'm in the UK, with no trouble. Possibly they don't have enough servers, but i wouldn't have thought so.

To double-check you've got the correct ports open open IE, and type this:

http://www.google.com:<Port_Number>

ports steam needs:

UDP 1300
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27030 to 27039 inclusive

Edit: Note, include the http:// bit when testing ports.

Ok, you can't find your steamID by using the example at the start of this thread.

Becuase my steam file reads: userdata_240.vdf

But my real SteamID is 1781.

I started downloading this crap 2 hours ago and it's still downloading CS... what a bunch of horse crap.. CS isn't even that big, what the hell will happen when I download HL2??? If I ever finish the download , says 30 minutes now, yet an hour ago it said 52 minutes, I might have something nice to say about STEAM, but if it's this slow getting HL2 I will be pissed.

same here.

are you using steam on top of previously installed HL ver 1.1.1.0, or a clean steam install?

does it make things any faster?

28642

i just installed it.

one question: where are the HL2 bink videos?
they're not listed in steam...

I havent played a game online, it kinda freezes when I try to run anything in the valve games tab (cs hl, dod etc) by ts (considered a third party game) runs fine, looks great and actually runs a hell of a lot faster. :)
although I havent found a server online yet for it

when I type status it says Steam_ID_loopback
:/ weird
