Anybody know?

I'm planning on getting an athlon 64, new mobo and x800 pro agp. I would go with PCI Express, but since I'm getting a new, top of the line pc next year...why wait when i can get it for free then? Agp will do fine for the next year.

It's actually out right now, but it's really hard to find. The "official" release, I guess you could say, is Q4 of this year.

wait your gonna get an athlon 64 x800 pro this year? then a top of the line computer next year?

yeah, i need a new motherboard anyway (and graphics card), so why not go to 64 bit? I dont like my KT400 anymore.

Or do you all think I should get the fastest 32 bit athlon XP, new mobo and video card?

holy shit 500$ for the 3500?! thats out of my price range for a processor.

I'll just upgrade the motherboard and video card

Hehe

There are other options other than Socket 939. ;)
A solid Socket 754 board and A64 3000+ can be had for $300 off newegg.

Right you are. Also the 3000 is more then enough speed i think, I happen to think the PC gaming setup has changed now. The cpu isnt that main part to vitul gaming like it had been in the past. Now the graphics card is head and shoulders above everything else in your computer...as long as your gaming.

So that said, I think pricing priority number 1 should be the graphics card, second cpu, third ram.

But thats just my view on things.

Yep it's true, as long as your cpu can handle the graphics correctly so you don't have a bottleneck slowing things down. And I'd even add tweaking as the fourth priority.
