Why do you feel the need to make a thread about every little thing? Just make ONE single thread and keep all these questions in there...

I would say, it depends on what you already have. For example, my current card is the 9700 Pro. My previous card was the Geforce DDR. It was WELL worth the upgrade :)
I went with the badest card on the planet when I bought it. But if I would have had a ti4600, it would not have been worth it. Even now I wouldnt think it was worth it.

So for me its two paths:
Keep your card until its so old you just HAVE TO have the meanest and fastest there is.
Upgrade more often, but keep to little lower performance cards since it cost quite a bit...

I'm more of the first type. Hell, I though my trusty old Geforce DDR on a 700mhzer (Athlon of course, the new kid on the block that blew away the Pentium) was still FAST last year.

im waiting for nvidia to release its next line of video cards.. that get rid of the undesires of fx 5900

I will either:
A) buy the card that bundles HL2
B) wait til the price drops after a new card is released
C) wait til the totally new line of cards this Christmas and get one of those at 200-300$ range (Both companies will have cards that will fully support and comply with all DX9 specs and beyond...dx9.1)
But no matter what I do, I will wait til HL2 comes out along with HL2 benchmarks for the card I choose.

i will buy a 9800 pro + HL2 combo if it does actually happen
