i died like 10 times when you had to fight 2 hellicopters at once when you had the antlions with you, was so frustrating, i did play it on hard tho so guess my own fault

lol I gave up on that bit, I was playing at 5fps.... now I'm gonna wait till I can use my housemate's computer in the weekend

The part when you have the buggy, and there is a drop ship droping guys, then after you have to put the batterys in and life the blockade.

Took me aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages to find the car battery in that bit. I looked in every car but must have missed it the first time round.

I died the most in that "more soldiers!" bit, where you're waiting for Alyx, and set up turrets. I died a lot mainly because I accidentally quicksaved right before a grenade blew up next to me (I think it was one of my misthrown grenades actually ), leaving me with something like 3 hp, so it took me a LOT of tries before I survived the rest of the attack starting with so few hp.

I died multiple times around the end of Nova Prospekt when you're waiting for Alyx to come and meet you and have have loads of gaurds about to come and attack you from 6 possible routes and she's repropgrammed 3 turrets... but 6 routes & 3 turrets is a pain in the ass.

Both the turret part that everyone talked about and the part with the 2 gunships while having the antlions were my worst parts.

Interesting thing with the turrets I found, somewhat effective although not great - you can pick a turret up with the gravity gun and carry it around while it fires on enemies for you

In the end I bunched all 3 turrets up on one side facing all 3 directions (wall behind me) and used the shotgun to kill off any combine that showed up - longer they stay alive, longer they have to throw grenades.

god that was annoying!

[TACTICAL SPOILERS BELOW for the middle and late middle parts of the game]


In the end I had to block one of the enterences with boxes and barrels then.. put the other 3 turrets on the other three enterences but have them really close to pillars or the wall so they didn't stick out and get hammered. If you do this, which I think you should becuase the blockade is a good use of physics then make sure you kill the combine behind the blocked enterence after Alyx says "I'm on my way" otherwise she won't turn up!

By the way I'm writing this because it was so annoying I died like 8 times! Anyway, I would also like to say this was one of the best moments of the game. I like a challenge


Another annyoing part was in Sandtraps when you are in the buggie and you get stuck behind a barrier which is opened using batteries. Well I could only find two, and you need three (I think I shot the other one away with the gravity gun ) so I had to shoot my buggie over the barrier with the gravity gun heh.

That was the only place I got stuck.

I forgot that you could change the difficulty level mid game, (I would've put it on easy), so I just enabled god mode.

Died twice.

#1 in Ravenholm. (I picked up a saw w/ the gravity gun. Throw it, it bouched back and killed me.)

#2 in the buggy (Drove off the cliff.)

Setting up three turrets and surviving on hard.. that was a pain in the ass.

Though I did manage it by putting all of the turrets in the middle room. Two of them facing one way and the other the other way. Backed up the one standing alone with my trusty smg and survived with 50hp, not getting hit once during the entire thing. They didn't even manage to knock down any of my turrets.. heh

same here with the bit with the 3 turrets, stuck with it tho, and managed to do it on hard. best bit of the game imo.
