Where does this leave Gamespy/Kquery

Being a relative newcomer to this Steam business, I'm still trying to get a handle on what it all means.

At the moment I use Gamespy to connect to the various servers for TFC and Natural Selection. Most of these servers are based in the UK.

So, what happens when HL2 arrives and WON ID dies? Will I only be able to connect to game servers via Steam, or will Gamespy still work?
How will Steam affect latency for servers outside the US (where I assume Steam is based)?

Gamespy will still work, but Gamespy is shite so I dunno why you would want to do that. Steam will have no effect on server latency.

ever since gamespy got so bloated it crashes half the time, I've just used games' internal game browsers.

same here...gamespy is goin to die one day, and i cant wait!

Do you like commercials or something? If not, why are you still using Gamespy?

Try All Seeing Eye. It's simple in every way and does the job very well without any annoying ado...

And yes, you'll have to use Steam. Steamservers are only use for updating games and has nothing to do with your latency in your games...

When Steam (beta of course) was up and running you could use The All-Seeing Eye to browse Counter Strike Steam servers and it worked fine.
