Where is the g-man in the first and final chapters maps?

Well if you like nocliping, you have, no doubt noticed, that there are no pre-rendedanimations. I mean everything you see is build in 3D models. Like every time you see something/ someone on a screen, there is whole room biuld just ouside the playing space. Like in point incertion you can see Kleiner's and in Red Letter Day-eli's lab in BME rebiuld and that's actually what you see on the screens, not just pre-rended flat images. What I found interesting that the images you see flashing during G-man's opening speech are done in 3D too. The whole Black Mesa experiment chamber has been redone. I even turned nocip off incide and walked around in it. I couldn't climb the ladder though since in was just a texture on the wall, but it was nice. The partion of the citadel you see is also there.
After I saw that I ofcource went looking for the g-man, I suppose his model should have been there too. All I found was this large monolith of pure black. Looked like there was someting inside, a small lighter spot among the whole blackness but I couldn't distinwish what it was - I didn't have a flashlight yet. I also went looking for him in the last chapter. There was a large space of black yet again, but this time there was like a monolith of white light. It wasn't hard to figure out that this was the door g-man steps through in the end. I found something else inside the black - a green globe, in some kind of vortex. I later on noticed it that you can see it searing through g-man's face during his final speech. The same green thingy got formed around the ball breen was in when the portal started opening. The more interesting thing was the sound I heard when I approached it. It was a scream of some sort, a moan stretched out and whithering as it was traveling with high speed away from you or something.
Anyway, anyone done that too? I don't know if there were any related topics.

Also another thing I was wondering. As I mentioned earlier every time you see something on a videoscreen you actually see something else that's happening on the map somewhere else. Well, then where is the alien you see Breen talking to. I searched the whole 'Dark Energy' map but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know if there is a 3D model of the alien anywhere in there?

Not new, but I still enjoyed reading this. But I still don't get why they don't just make a short movieclip on the screen, Ain't that much easier?? Also, about the green thing at the end, I think that it is something that you have to play to (or just sit in the pod really, and then walk after breen), to get it show up. Try to freeze the time when you get there then noclip + ai_disable.

Yes, the slug is in the map. I've found and killed it.

Does anyone have an idea what that screaming sound round the greeny thing is? I suppose you do hear it when the reactor goes down but the background noices silence it.

And where is the 'slug'? Do you see a little more of him. That thing's face looks like ALF's nose. shuugh

And do you know if the g-m is inside the those mases of black. Or his model just hides/unhides after the intro and before the end sequence?

Btw if you've played Bloodlines, it's the same there.

So you guys just fly around aimlessly looking for stuff? What's the console command to turn off AI?

You can kill the slug? Awesome! How big is it?

well I found the slug. It's actually a worm-like creature. And it's not green you just see it alighted by green light. And I managed to get to the G-man too. I turned off the AI and after I took down the reactor nothing happened. Agter that I went to that black space and guess who I found hanging around?
Btw how do I stop time. I searched the console for freeze, stop, pause and time but I couldn't find anything.

It doesn't ragdoll. Infact the only way you can know it's dead is that your bullets go through it insted of hitting it. It may crash your game when you kill too.

Memory costs would shoot through the roof. There's a reason why you don't see animated textures in games much anymore.

Memory costs? I doubt a short 20 second clip would use up much memory... Besides, the opening "Valve" sequence is an .avi and I don't see people complaining about the memory costs of rendering that clip.

You don't see animated textures in games anymore because you can do the animated effect another, more advanced way.
In the times of Quake, you'd have to make a video to show it on a texture. Now, you can actually have a camera output to a surface.
All other texture effects are now done using shaders, no need to use animated textures anymore - not because they use a lot of memory.
