where to put speakers?

This might be in the wrong forum, but i dunno where else to put it. My problem is that i've been brainstorming for where to put my speakers at if i get surround, i don't have a circular desk or anything to im pretty much out of ideas, if anyone could tell me where they put their's to make it so you actually have speakers behind youthat would be really helpful.
