i wanna know the origins of these stupid words. Why is my token gesture 'w00t'? why does my gf use it as well as all my friends? what's it mean? Bouncing Quake ers? who knows. Plz tell

Who knows the origin of any word? Sure you can trace certain words back to germanic or latin or things like that, but what about before that? So, you know, I don't think anyone can answer your questions.

Why does it matter? Its just a cultural thing, I used to think they were stupid but you gotta just accept them as a part of gaming culture.

In another thread it was said it originated back in the 80's, smalltime hacker rings would speak 'l33t' to keep their boards out of search engines. When it came to the Doom/Quake, and more notably CS era it was used in games to make the user 'l33t'. Now it's just stupid
