Hey sorry if this is in the wrong forum but im desperate.

I just purchased Half Life 2 and got the CD in a case (no outter box), and have installed it. But now i cannot locate my CD Key to register with Steam. Where is the CD Key located? Could it have been removed from the case?

Please reply

The CD was in a case? You mean like a music CD jewel case or a DVD movie case?

Where did you buy the game from? Ebay? Another shop?

The CD was in a DVD case

I bought the game from WHSmith in my town

Ok, it's either on the back of the case, inside the case on a white label, inside the front cover or back cover of the manual, on the outside cover of the manual, on the DVD or on a piece of card that's inside the manual.

Well i think i know what the problem is. On the inside of the case theres a white sticky piece of paper left over which could show that the label has been ripped out.

And the woman didn't give me a manual! :o I didn't dispute that though incase it was normal :S

Back to the store it is

Actually, there shouldn't be a manual as far as I know... There might be some sort of reference card though.

Yep, go back to the store.

The cd key is meant to be on a little white sticker if you have a proper dvd case, it should be inside somewhere. Just point out to them theres no cd key in the case. It doesn't come with a manual, theres an online manual on steam for you to look at only. However you do get a a card, which just helps with controls, thats all (no cd key on it).

the cd key should be in the top right hand corner of the dvd case that's where mine was anyway and no you don't get a manuel you just get this orange piece of paper

If it is the CD version (5-Discs) it should be on the back of a white paper CD case. If it is DVD listen to these guys.

thats why i got mine through steam, no worries about a cd key, all saved on my account.

Hmm, well, I bought the DVD collector's edition and it wasn't in a DVD case. It was one DVD inside a normal CD jewel case.
