Which driver version do I use?

Ok, I just reformatted my hard drive, reinstalled XP home (fully up to date-sans sp2), installed nvidia's 66.93 drivers, updated my audigy drivers and reinstalled HL2(100% acquired) in an attempt to get this game to work on my pc. However, it still freezes to a white screen just after (a blurry loading screen) intial start up.

I'm thinking it might be my motherboard drivers because they're the only ones I haven't updated. However, I'm having trouble deciding which version to use.

I have a Shuttle AV40 with the VIA P4X266 N.B. and VIA VT8233 S.B. chipset and when I log on to Shuttles ftp site (ftp://ftp.shuttle.com/drivers/mb/via) there's 12 different via 4in1 versions. The readme text lists a version which isn't even listed as the "letest" version. How am I to know which is the latest driver for my motherboard? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Saver yourself time, energy and emotional breakdown and be resigned to the fact that this game simply doesn't work properly for a lot of people.
