Wow, that site is horrible. $50 for a DVI cable? Yuck. Get this one from Monoprice, if 10ft is an ok length for you:

that sounds great, but 10ft is too short, need about 16+ft.

make sure your pc has the proper connection to start with, otherwise you'll be stuck with a useless cable. I say this because chances are your monitor should've come with the proper connections, my 22" lcd came with a DVI and VGA cable, I use DVI.

I have my normal PC setup, but want to somtimes use a bigger separate monitor which is placed further from my PC.

Some of those cables only support up to 2048x1536, but I have a 30" monitor also which is 2560x1600. will they still work on that?

you will need dual link dvi-d cable for that resolution.
