what mobo should i get with this cpu

AMD athlon 64 3500+ Winchester,

i know there are 3 types of nforce4s, regular, ultra, and sli,
and nforce3, and nforce3, and VIA mobos, what is the best one? ohh ya PCI please

nf4untra is probably better, but you wont realy notice alot of diffrence most likley.

if you wanna overclock then MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum(nForce3) is the way to go, but alot of people have problems with this board so if you're not prepared for a whole lot of bios flashing and tweaking then this isnt for you. If you're not overclocking ie. want a mobo for everyday use then the ASUS A8V Deluxe(K8T800Pro) is the best option. no doubt its the most stable A64 board out there. or you can go ahead and get the ASUS A8N SLI(nForce4) or the MSI K8N Diamond(nF4) if you want PCI-e/SLI

I really doubt you need to spend the money on an SLI board unless your just uber rich and want to buy two GeForce cards.

All the nForce3/4/SLI boards are basicly the same exact thing except for Socket and AGP vs PCI-Express. They should all have a few PCI slots by the way.

Pick based on the GFX card slot and also which board brand/model, what good things you've heard about it.

I'd say wait for some more nForce 4 sli's to come out. Sli seems like a really good upgrade path. Buy a 6800gt now and get awesome performance today, and 5 months down the line, instead of replacing the 6800gt with a new gpu for 400-500 dollars, just get another 6800gt for 200-300 dollars.

what would you recommend for a non sli mobo? just a standard 939 pcix mobo? nf2 or nf4 or nf3? i have no idea about amd mobos so need some help

i just went searching on msi and asus website, neither have a pci mobo other than the sli one you posted.

1 question, i think its pointless paying 300 for a mobo and not end up using its sli mode,

but i will buy this if you guys convince me that the architecture is actualy worth getting it, if theres no diff between the nf4sli, ultra, nf4, nf3 and nf2, then its no point getting it

but serisouly is the up to date technology on the sli board, other than the sli mode worth buying this mobo?

If you will be using a PCI-Express gfx card then go with either SLI or Ultra nForce4 boards.
If you will be using an AGP gfx card then just get a standard Socket 939 nForce3/4.

I bought the MSI K8T for my AMD64 3500+ mainly because there were 2 raid controllers onboard, so now i can run 2 S-ATA HDDs each in a raid0 setup.

I really can't complain, it's a great Board overall.

This would be fine: Asus A8V Deluxe Socket-939 VIA/KT800Pro.

Basically the same mobo i have but for socket 939.

I found two more

MSI K8N Diamond (already been posted)

Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9

the Gigabyte one is only nf4, not nf4 ultra, so I would wait until they got an ultra one in.

But still, that's one more step closer to pci-e goodness on the amd side!

if ur gettin pcix then Id get a SLI mobo so you can double up on gfx cards later if you want
